Rugged area the Sierras. Finding his body (being realistic) will take an equal measure of luck and persistence. They just found some WWII flyboy's remains up there a couple years back.

He is/was a dick. Just like his mate Richard Branson. Would do anything to get some meaningless record that would go into the Guiness Book of.

He took off for a 20 minute recon, didn't even file a flight plan. I don't think he'll be found alive.

Wife Asks Court to Declare Fossett Dead
    By MIKE ROBINSON
    Associated Press Writer

CHICAGO (AP) -- The wife of millionaire adventurer Steve Fossett, who disappeared while flying his plane in September in rugged Western terrain, asked a court Monday to declare him legally dead.
"As painful as it is for Mrs. Fossett, other members of the family and his many friends, it is time to initiate this process," said attorney Michael A. LoVallo, who filed the petition in Cook County Circuit Court.
The request was a step toward resolving the legal status of Fossett's estate, which according to court papers is "vast, surpassing eight figures in liquid assets, various entities and real estate," LoVallo said.

    Adventurer Steve Fossett declared dead
    2/15/2008, 5:21 p.m. PST
    The Associated Press

CHICAGO (AP) — Millionaire adventurer Steve Fossett, who risked his life seeking to set records in high-tech balloons, gliders and jets, was declared dead Friday, 5 months after he vanished while flying in an ordinary small plane.

The self-made business tycoon, who in 2002 became the first person to circle the world solo in a balloon, was last seen Sept. 3 after taking off in a single-engine plane from an airstrip near Yerington, Nev., heading toward Bishop, Calif. He was 63.

His wife, Peggy V. Fossett, had him declared legally dead in Cook County Circuit Court as a step toward resolving the legal status of his estate. Judge Jeffrey Malak heard testimony Friday from Peggy Fossett, a family friend and a search-and-rescue expert before deciding there was sufficient evidence to declare him dead.

    Sailor

Steve Fossett was one of the world's most accomplished sailors. Speed sailing is Fossett's speciality and from 1993 to 2004, he dominated the record sheets, setting 23 official world records and nine distance race records. He is recognized by the World Sailing Speed Record Council as "the world's most accomplished speed sailor."[1]
On the maxi-catamaran Cheyenne (formerly named PlayStation), Fossett has twice set the prestigious 24 Hour Record of Sailing. In October 2001, Fossett and his crew set a transatlantic record of 4 days 17 hours, shattering the previous record by 43 hours 35 minutes — an increase in average speed of nearly seven knots.
In early 2004, Fossett, as skipper, set the world record for fastest circumnavigation of the world (58 days, 9 hours) in Cheyenne with a crew of 13. Both the Transatlantic and Round the World records have been superseded by Bruno Peyron on Orange II. As of 1997, Fossett held the world record for crossing the Pacific Ocean in his 125-foot sailboat, the PlayStation, which he accomplished on his fourth try.[6][13]

Fossett doesn't smell too good right now....As Marmite said, I think the animalls have been snacking on him.

He's been missing for 5 months.

I am, his lost love child, and I want in, on the inheritance.

Not far from Yerington into the Sierra's and them is some big and rugged mountains, so if he went north/west good chance they will never find that plane until some hunter or hiker walks up on it, if he went south then they would have found him already.

Maybe he was snatched by a UFO and they are doing an extended anal probe and just taking a long time due to the fact that he is such a big asshole.

^Not so sure about that. Never see necrophiliacs being trotted around on TV by the police so they must be getting away with it...
