Holy Jump Start Batman ... Bet you can't beat this battery.

South Australia teams with Tesla, Neoen to build world's biggest lithium ion battery
    in bid to secure power.

The world's largest lithium ion battery will be installed in South Australia under an agreement between
Tesla, Neoen and the State Government, Premier Jay Weatherill has announced.

Tesla will build the battery which will store energy from French renewable company Neoen's Hornsdale Wind Farm, which is still under construction.
The project will be in place before summer.

According to the Government, Tesla boss Elon Musk has confirmed his commitment to deliver the battery within 100 days or it is free.

The Government has said the 100-megawatt (129 megawatt hour) battery places SA at the forefront of global energy storage technology.

The battery will operate at all times providing stability services for renewable energy and will be available to
provide emergency back-up power if a shortfall in energy is predicted.

Mr Musk told a press conference at Adelaide Oval that this project was "not a minor foray into the frontier".
"There is certainly some risk, because this will be largest battery installation in the world by a significant margin
... the next biggest battery in the world is 30 megawatts," Mr Musk said.

Note to self ... buy some Lithium mining Shares.

There's not enough capacity from solar and wind power. In the distant future, perhaps (but probably not). Fossil and nuclear fuels will be with us for some time yet.

    Nev, agree totally.

Just a wish to be clean and green AND CHEAP with our energy requirements.

I'm Solar at home (in the West), not battery though. LPG Car.

Oh, if only Fusion Technology was technically feasible.

In Australia they are looking at Snowy Hydro electric 2.0 where they pump up, when the spark is cheap and let it rip when they can make some coin.

If I had a personal goal, it wouldn't be a cure for Cancer, but building a better, more efficient, cost effective battery.
    Life changer that one.

Another way to store energy is to pump water uphill and release at night.

They have been doing this for decades.
