Im reading now he was a refugee from Vietnam in the 1970's. Studied medicine in Vietnam, became a refugee in the 70's, finished studying medicine in Cali.
I could care less where the guy originally came from (The Chinese seem to be claiming him )

And yeah, him returning on the plane was weird. How did that happen and why would he want to. He should have been calling his lawyer and resolving it through the courts.

United and security over reacted; both situations were avoidable.

    Heh...

Well, I'm assuming people should "be angry"...You could be happy and it would work out even better...

Like I said before, it happened to me...And I was happy about it...

So, just be a cowed consumer and suck it up then. Exactly why airlines think they can pull this sort of shit in the name of profit.

^^ I guess for some people being meekly pushed around by corporations is a good but it's clearly a minority view, and I'm happy for that. It's hardly insurrectionary stuff but of the two alternatives, the doctor took the better path and I wish him every success in his court case.

Depends on many factors...But "losing a seat" is not an uncommon occurrence...His "reaction" was "unusual," for whatever reason...

And I've already stated that most people are angered...But it's best to keep yer anger "in check"...

I'm been called many things, never been called racist. I meant I didn't expect sympathy for the guy, I didn't mean sympathy was undeserved.
I obviously support him, feel very protective of older people (irregardless of race).

Nope, medium/high price...we are just quick/efficient. Use quick drying chemical setting compounds, heaters, electric vacuum sander... wham bam! thank you mam!.. plastering free for you guys (just supply the materials).

“Anybody can become angry — that is easy, but to be angry with the right person and to the right degree and at the right time and for the right purpose, and in the right way — that is not within everybody's power and is not easy.”

^^ Aristotle won't save you from your meekishness. You're better off with something from the Sermon on the Mount:

"Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth."

Peace be with you, my son.

There's a simple way airlines can solve this if they desperately need seats for their staff. They conduct an auction and keep increasing the compensation offer by $100 until someone accepts giving up their seat, which is bound to happen.

This dragging out of seat was purely to avoid the expense of doing so.

I think I'd have struggled like he did in that situation, but until encountering it, who knows. It does seem infantile behaviour to let yourself be dragged out instead of walking out like an adult but if you've made the decision that you're entitled to stay in the seat then that's what you're going to stick to.

And they made a serious miscalculation about that. This could see them following Pan Am into the history books.

Maybe it is, maybe it isn't but it can hardly be, as BaitongBoy seems to think, retrospective justification for assaulting him.

At least the incident has provided a good example to the wife of why I never fly on the last plane of the day if I need to get somewhere.

It is the bad side of flying out of an airline's major hub. It looks like the good doctor didn't need to be back for any reason and his wife had already agreed to leave.

BTW I hadn't realised Northwest had gone out of business. Who has taken over the Minneapolis hub?
