Three people have been hurt after a heavily armed man opened fire on a train in northern France, before being overpowered by two American passengers.

The incident happened on the high-speed Thalys service near Arras, and the attacker was arrested at Arras station.

The interior minister praised the Americans, one of whom was seriously injured, as was another passenger.

The man arrested was a 26-year-old Moroccan. Anti-terrorist officers have taken over the case.

The weapons were said to include a Kalashnikov, a knife, an automatic pistol and cartridges ...

A group of unarmed US Marines on board a high-speed train between Amsterdam and Paris foiled a terrorist attack after a gunman opened fire with an assault rifle, wounding three people.

The 26-year-old Moroccan national, who was known to security services, came out of the toilet brandishing the gun and opened fire. Fortunately, two US Marines were nearby and overpowered him before he could massacre passengers.

The suspected terrorist had at least nine full magazines of ammunition holding almost 200 rounds. He was also carrying a knife.

Unfortunately, one of the Marines was shot and is believed to be in a critical condition.

In fairness, it appears that three passengers beat this fuck down - two Americans and a Brit. And contrary to many news reports, none of them were seriously injured.
Some news reports carry a photo of the three, uninjured. Well done!

-With the help of Anthony Sadler, from California, and British national Chris Norman, they stopped the attack
-Stone was cut in the neck during the confrontation and is in hospital - although his injuries are not life-threatening

Real Heroes ! They prevented a bloodbath.

I know they can be a bit of a risque bunch on that there continent, but I still think medals would be more appropriate.

Just heard a French minister give a radio interview,his comments on the attack.

"We must follow the correct procedure and not jump to conclusions."

Hmmm even the BBC failed to mention the Brit who was also involved.

That's the Brit on the right. There were three Americans involved, not two. One college senior from California (think that's him on the left), one Oregon National Guard soldier (center), and the third (not shown as in hospital) who is a US Air Force guy. The three Americans were friends traveling together. The Air Force guy (who appears to be quite a big guy) charged 10 meters down the aisle of the train and took the guy out with a tackle, getting cut in the neck with a box cutter or a knife. His buddy (center) grabbed the AK and beat the shithead unconscious with the butt, then, with his other buddy (left) staunched the neck bleeding while the Brit secured the raghead.

And a French action hero movie star cut his finger while breaking the glass on the alarm box in an attempt to surrender the train.
