Not really. Student licence leads to private licence, which only requires some 40hrs flying. CPL is a longer road to travel, expensive, and with less than 250hr flying employment is difficult - obviously Lufthansa helped in this respect. Even so, at the age of 28, this guy had only accumulated 630hrs or so.I don't know, guess both versions are wrong, as there seems to be student, private and commercial pilots licences and training
It is at the discretion of individual airlines - not all of them mandate this requirement.Apparently only the US mandates 2 people in the cockpit at all times
