Thread: Plane turns back after passenger shouts "jihad"

Dulles, Virginia (CNN)Two quick-thinking passengers in the third row of a United flight to Denver tackled and subdued a man who was heading toward the cockpit, other travelers on the plane told CNN on Tuesday.

The incident started shortly after United Flight 1074 took off around 10:15 p.m. Monday from Dulles International Airport in suburban Washington.

Typical CNN nonsensical and overly dramatic headline, the cockpit door is fortified and locked, what harm could he have done? CNN made such asses out of themselves speculating about black holes and alien abduction with MH370 it's a wonder anyone still watches them.

^^ It's a plug door, won't open while the plane is pressurized is the only reason I can think not to do it.

Thanks to nuts like this, you can no longer say "I fly Cessna planes, may I see the cockpit later if the Captain doesn't mind"? Funny, not that long ago such was a legitimate request.

I was talking about the exit doors to the airplane, It was in joking response to Lantern's comment "Why couldn't they just chuck him out the door"?

I spent about 30 minutes in the cockpit of a Virgin Atlantic 747-400 simply by asking. I was taking flying lessons in a Cessna and had already soloed. It's was interesting, and the pilots were very polite and seemed to enjoy talking about planes. Just a damn shame stuff like this cannot happen anymore because of a few idiots. The pilots my family know really hate being locked in the cockpit, before they could eat dinner and walk around the first class section where you meet some interesting passengers.

Sat up the front loads of times having a coffee from Thailand back to the Gulf at night, mainly because I used to drink with lots of the pilots!

Shame the raggies fucked that up.

Can't remember how many times my brother and I spent time in the cockpit on our flights - parents flew a lot . . . We received little 'Pilot' booklets with stamps in them, pins etc... Exciting times for kids . . . sadly not anymore.

Having said that, flew XY with the pilot being my neighbour from two houses down and we spent a few hours chatting up front . . . which was a bit annoying as he got me upgraded to First and I couldn't enjoy it much, being in the cramped cockpit!

Looking at the stewardess standing next to the galley while he was heading for the loo the man yelled back to his friend sitting in row 15 while pointing at the galley , "She's hot !"

Well , you know how that comment ended up as another gentleman was adjusting his hearing aid amplifier.

He shouted " I Je had peanuts in packet, not on plate"

Right, just issue guns to every traveller so they can shoot the terrorists if government can't protect you. No. I expect better from US and UK and Aus and NZ.
