Not how the legal system works, can't even bring prior criminal history out. Jury won't be told, if they know, they'll be instructed to disregard it.

Yasojack, cops have complaints made about them all the time, the cameras and personal voice recorders, are there to protect the cops, not the public.

People committing crimes/ traffic offences often don't confess, human nature.
In this case cop over reacted, I think, but to charge him with one level down from attempted murder, is a political charge.
A lessor charge may have got a conviction, not looked as good in the press though.
