say what like it is a beautiful place to vacation.
Vacationed up there a lot with ex and family..had a time share and a job most of the time so did not consider it expensive. Depends of course how one spends ones time.
Used to live in high style next to beach in FNQ Cairns...now that WAS bloody beautiful ...not apparently for the ex though as she f..ked off cos she was bored...555
Agree Perth is expensive and a bit clinical/boring apart from the fun risk of getting eaten by a shark...full of whingeing Brits too...lol
They tell me about #3 and #4.
When they visit, sometimes for longer periods, they discuss the political correctness and attitudes (and this exist elsewhere than Oz of course) and the "don't take my photo asshole" when half of someone's head gets in a photo being taken of a building or on the beach.
And what's with the insurance needed now for those neighborhood christmas parties?
I could go on and on, but won't.

If I was in my 20's, had a tight budget, and the whole aim of the game when it came to a holiday was getting my dick wet, Thailand or Bali would be fair options.
But being older, the Gold Coast is my chosen longer holiday (3-4 weeks) spot where Mrs Worx and I go quite often. Here's a few reasons why:
There's about a million waterfront condos you can rent short term. Quite the place to eat a breakfast of prawns bought straight from a trawler that docked as you pulled into the marina carpark just after sunrise. Add a few hot crusty bread rolls and the local papers and life is good.
Local wildlife on a golf course, of which there's about a dozen of and they're about the same price (or cheaper) as good courses in Thailand. No caddies of course, but no fucking 5-6 balls of Thai's or Koreans holding the day up that Marshals are too scared to say anything to either.
Deep sea fishing. Not expensive to join in with any one of the many charters really and unlike Thailand, you will catch table quality fish 9 out of 10 times while on a boat that more than likely won't sink or isn't being captained by an unqualified drunk.
Nice scenery. It's great to just go for a walk or jump in the car and go for a drive, be it along the coast or up into the mountain ranges.
And speaking of driving, Avis rent Caprice's. After driving locally made Japanese shit-boxes with your right foot glued to the floor in Thailand for so long, getting behind the wheel of a proper car with a 6 liter V8 under the lid is pure joy. Add to this not having to do the thinking for every other driver within 100 meters and driving quickly becomes something to look forward to.
Then there's the huge array of great restaurants, clothes/shoe shops that cater to people above 5 foot 2, going to see a home game for the Suns or Titans, Jupiters Casino (a BIG plus), and the general sense of a non-chaotic lifestyle. Yep, it's a great place for a holiday.
