Bystanders shot by police in Times Square

Bystanders shot by police in Times Square
    07:00 Mon Sep 16 2013AAP

New York police have shot and wounded two bystanders, trying to arrest a man in Times Square. One woman was hit in the knee and another in the buttock.

A 35-year-old man described as "emotionally disturbed" was weaving in and out of traffic at the Manhattan crossroads - one of the city's top tourist attractions - and appeared to be trying to be hit by a car when an officer tried to arrest him on Saturday night.

"The male eluded the officer, and when additional officers responded, the male put his hand in his pocket and took it out, simulating that he was shooting at the officers," police said in a statement.

Two officers fired a total of three shots, each of them missing their target.

The bullets hit a 54-year-old woman in the knee and a 35-year-old woman was injured in her left buttock.

The man was arrested after being hit with a Taser.

And no doubt the 2 innocent bystanders were also arrested for interfering with police carrying out their duties !

I fee l for the woman shot in the knee. Worst place, knee is very complicated she'll likely limp for the rest of her life. What happens when you give guns to morons.

And the same day, the cops shot and killed a former FAMU (Florida A&M University - a black college) football star. He had just had a bad car accident and, bleeding and dazed, was running towards the cops seeking aid. Black - big - running at cops = BANG!

N.C. officer charged in fatal shooting of ex-FAMU player

Officer Randall Kerrick has been charged with voluntary manslaughter in the shooting death of Jon Ferrell

The deadly encounter was set in motion when a former college football player survived a wreck and went searching for help in the middle of the night. A frightened woman heard him pounding and opened her front door, then called police. Officers found the unarmed man, and one fatally shot him when a Taser failed to stop him from approaching.
Within hours, investigators determined that the shooting had been excessive and charged the Charlotte-Mecklenburg police officer with voluntary manslaughter in the death of former Florida A&M University football player Jonathan A. Ferrell.

There was an AOS callout here a few weeks ago. I went out for a pee on the lawn as one does, when a bright light illuminated my private act and a voice demanding to know my name.

No, it wasn't god, it was a heavily armed police officer who herded me back into my humble home at the point of Bushmaster rifle, demanding to know the whereabouts of a neighbour.

The cop left after a search, told me to stay indoors and lock the door, which I did, then I lay down on the bed until the cops left.

The cops caught the guy the next day, when he emerged from his hiding place on a neighbouring property.

Why the dog they had couldn't sniff him out, I don't know.

All part of the modern NYPD ethic, this guy stopped a knife wielding maniac whilst the cops stood by.
