Authorities have arrested 255 alleged child predators in the United States and eight other countries in an operation led by a US agency that illustrated a growing trend called "sextortion" in which children are blackmailed into providing pornographic images of themselves, officials said Monday.

The month-long Operation iGuardian in June, led by the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency, led to 244 arrests in the US.

Eleven others were arrested in Brazil, Canada, Israel, Mexico, the Philippines, Singapore, South Korea and Thailand. ICE worked with authorities in those countries to catch the suspects, officials said.

This is likely a PR move to counter the damage from the Snowden leaks. "See we do this to protect the children." The perverts deserve prison if found guilty, no sympathy for them, but any implication that catching people like this justifies the wholesale snooping on Americans that Snowden disclosed is nonsense.

Criminals are why the Constitution provides for search warrants, and they could have been caught under the old rules.

If 2% of the population are bent , then via extrapolation , statistically about 5 of the offenders should be gay .
I'm guessing it's more like 150,
proving bent people are way more likely to be paedos than straight.
