    Big negativo on that.

The ice mass is growing preventing tour operators from getting any type of ship (there's only one at the moment - an old ice-breaker from Poland or Russia I believe) in close enough to launch choppers to get these tourists ashore to visit the Emperor Penguin Colonies.

Is Antarctica losing or gaining ice?

Satellites measure Antarctica is gaining sea ice but losing land ice at an accelerating rate which has implications for sea level rise.

I think the figure quoted in post # 44 was all the arctic ice gone in 2 years.

My suggestion to placate all the bleating alarmists concerned about the poor polar bears is to ship them all to the antarctic. Probably just as cold for them there plus maybe they may get a bit of variety in their diet. Different breed of fish.
