Dear all,

I have got to know Teakdoor as a place for all, and it still is. Over the years, I have read post from the far communist/socialist side all the way to the extreme capitalist side – or whatever you want to call them. Democrats fighting Republicans. Che Guevara against George Bush jr. Austerity against more public spending.

But what I am concluding now from all the above posts: the fast majority of us seem to believe that governments have gone too far, sneaky spying on their citizens and citizens of befriended nations, is being disapproved by most of us.

For a board with BM’s with such a broad political and ideological and social background – isn’t that alarming?
Alarming for these governments. I mean, you can’t just sneaky spy on innocent people and expect everyone to shrug.
It now shows they can’t.

Of course they can’t. Most of us would be mad if we found our wife sneaky going through our mail and text messages and Skype stuff. Although it must be about 1,000 times more likely for her to be cheated on during the next 12 months than being a victim of a terrorist attack.

The fact that the fast majority of us disapproves of these government’s spying on us – that’s taking their democratic legitimacy away.

No matter anything else, like Manning, this guy told the people of the world what we already knew, that the NSA and the US government are out of control. Snowden doesn't matter now; throw him to the wolves for all I care. However, what he told the world is quickly being forgotten and this point in itself means that Government wins, and the people of the world lose and Snowdens life is over for nothing.

Face it bashing a country as not being enlightened is silly. No country is enlightened and they never were. Do they have agendas? Yes, they all do. Do they work for the common good of humanity, no. So, whats your point?

You've got a person who works for an agency that gathers information on just about everything in some paranoid vision that the world is going to blow up if they don't monitor every posting. This fellow takes his $200,000 a year as a consultant for some years and all of a sudden has a vision that what he is involved in is somehow an injustice to the people he's paid to spy on? Oh, oh, he decides to share this information with the world via the very same technology that he used to spy on them with.

I don't know what his intentions were or are, but I do know that he will never sleep peacefully. Why didn't he go to his bosses and just quit his job? He had to share it. His ego was to big and he had a secret to share for the good of the American people. You buying this? Now he's downloaded everything he had, which is unknown, just what he carried in his lap tops or CD's, but its a certainty that he's done just what the non-enlightened countries wanted him to do.

So in case you are wondering what the enlightened countries were trying to do in an ass backward way well they were trying in their own convoluted thinking and actions to protect you and me from evil people who coincidentally want to kill you and me.

I don't care what happens to Snowden or where he decides or is forced to live. He made his choice and now he will have to live in the gulag of his choice.

He's no hero, he's just a person who got confused by the black gang and went over the edge mentally. Sadly, there's a lot more just like him, unqualified and mental.

I see you did actually miss the point of my post even though you stated you did not. I did not bash any country for not being enlightened,I said that America goes around the world murdering/bombing/torturing etc and then claims to be enlightened. Try reading what I have written instead of what you made up in your own head.
