Oh, and the Catholic Church is not a lessor of evils. It has been since inception a handbrake on humanity with a long, storied, and dark history of excesses and abuses. It's an anachronism.

You're confusing rainfall's words with your unconscious fear of me, your alterego.

Now stop watching grown men playing with their balls and cease dodging the issue ya little punk.

    You said:
"Oh, and the Catholic Church is not a lessor of evils. It has been since inception a handbrake on humanity with a long, storied, and dark history of excesses and abuses. It's an anachronism."

    And;
" the notion that God has spoken to/through this select group and they deem themselves able to speak to the masses for him?"

Now expand on that and how the new pope Francis l is gonna handle all this wordly stuff.

He's got a jihad too, not an Islamic one, but one just as fiercely dedicated.
Remember he's the new (possibly) Petrus Romanus, related to the Antichrist, the Great Deceiver, the Black Pope of prophesy, wooooo-wooooo, all of these things, that even Islam gets a bit fired up about too!!!

Maybe though, this stuff is all a bit way over yer head eh, (ginger) darkness?

    ENT,

It's "alter ego" and you either need to check a dictionary or you're more deluded than I thought if you think we're the same person.

And now after bringing Islam and my occupation into a thread about the Pope you're going to accuse me of dodging the issue!? Nothing you say is over my head because you're either dribbling irrelevant nonsense like now or lying (as per usual). Googling and cut 'n pasting doesn't equate to knowledge, ENT.

^ Desperate. Anything to derail the thread to make it all about Aunty.

Do you know anything about why the fact that Francis l being a Jesuit is of such importance?

Do you have any idea why I drew a parallel between Islam and Catholicism?

Because you're mental and like posting irrelevancies?? Why ask me why you've posted something, it's not like you have a reputation as an intelligent poster worthy of deep analysis. I don't know why you say half the stuff you do (clearly you don't either) and if I did I'd seek psychiatric help.

Not an anachronism. There are questions that can't be answered, so religions hang on. The catholic church today isn't what it was in 1500 AD. They run the world's largest charities, bring education and aid to the third world, and comfort the superstitious. They don't demand like the followers of Islam and the American churches that God is the head of state, and everyone has to behave according to the respective holy books.

They just tell millions of people in 2nd and 3rd world countries that contraception is a sin.
Plus I might remind you that priests buggering young boys is not a misdemeanor.....it is a serious CRIME.....as is the covering-up thereof.
    Ratzinger / the ex-Pope is a CRIMINAL.
One of my friends just saw the movie Silence In The House Of God, and various details have emerged about how Ratzinger was complicit in the cover-up.

I've been to some of those wierd ceremonys the cathlics have, dressing up in costumes and using all sorts of imagery to scare the hell out of the followers of this very bizzare cult.

No, they say that you should have sex with the person you love only, and in this context are contraception and HIV prevention uneccessary. What the Catholic church says is not a dogma, and this separates it from Islam and the American churches as well.

A handful Catholic priests screwing boys doesn't disturb me as much as American troops killing, maiming, and torturing people in the millions, and you ougth to get your priorities right as well.

Really... "Outside the Church there is no salvation, thus membership in the Church is necessary", so you need to be Catholic to be 'saved'. Dogma. I'm not sure how you can justify your statement that what the Catholic church says isn't dogma when the whole doctrine of the Catholic church is based on dogma.

And for your reference here is a list of 418 dogmata: Dogmas Of The Catholic Faith

The thing with satire is that it's best when it quickly and concisely nails something:

Man on gold throne somehow keeps straight face whilst calling on others to help poor

Pope Francis has inaugurated his papacy at a Mass in Rome, calling on everyone not sat on a gold chair to defend the poor and the weak.

In front of 200,000 worshippers, the new head of the multi-billion dollar catholic church said it was important that society looked towards the poor, and said so without the slightest trace of irony in his voice.

Putting in place a solid gold ring the size of an apple, Pope Francis told onlookers with a completely straight face, “It is important we think of those less fortunate than ourselves, which is pretty much everyone on the planet when you work here.”

“If you think this all looks incredibly splendid – you should see inside, it’s pretty awesome, honestly.”

“Seriously, if you don’t like gold furnishings you’d probably hate it, but I think it’s really ‘bling’ – as some of the young choristers say.”

    Pope inaugurated

Onlookers said the new Pope’s performance was ‘very polished’, and that they wouldn’t want to play poker with him.

Former catholic Simon Williams told us, “Did you see that bit about helping the poor? If you didn’t know better you’d say he lives in a mud hut and survives on the generosity of strangers.”

“I’m just surprised they didn’t pass around a collection plate. You don’t get to be the wealthiest organisation on the planet without knowing a thing or two about fund-raising.”

“You have to remember, the only difference between bankers and the Vatican is at least the bankers pretend like you’re going to get your money back.”

Why do you take part in this hypocrisy, claiming the pope is noncredible as fighter against poverty because he wears insignia of wealth? The man is a potential ally against fundamendalist capitalism. And what do you complain about the wealth of the Catholic church? It's 2,000 years old. If it had invested 1 Sesterze for 1.5% interest for all that time, it would own 9 trillion Sesterzes by now. Let's say they hoarded $1 trillion. If it were liquidated and given to the poor, the 5 billion of them can have $200 each. A drop in the ocean. Probably better they stick around and run their charities.

^^Riiiiiight... So the un-unanimously elected (even God can't get elections right apparently) head of the Catholic Church, a body infamous for its secretive and shady dealings and practices and which displays ostentatious trappings of wealth, lectures about caring for the poor, I post a satirical article about it... And this somehow translates to me taking part in hypocrisy??

Nope, I don't follow your logic there at all I'm afraid.

After all if they're that concerned with the poor why not dispense with all the ostentatious pomp and pageantry, sell that shit, and give the money to the poor.

The Sweet Baby Jesus never gave sermons in multimillion dollar buildings did he? In fact, wasn't it precisely that sort of thing that he was against?
