The Bangkok Corrections Museum was built as a high security prison in 1890 on Maha Chai Road.
In 1939 a prison museum was established in Bangkwang Central Prison, (Bangkok Hilton).
1987 much of the prison was demolished to establish a park which is called Romanni Nart Park, what is left of the prison is now the corrections museum, this includes 2 watch towers, part of the prison wall, a cell block and 3 other buildings.

1999 the museum was opened to the public, supposedly apart from Mondays you need to phone ahead to gain entrance, from our members experience if you just turn up they will let you in.

The displays in the buildings consist of products the prisoners made themselves, also life-sized waxed figures involved in execution scenes, depicting gruesome scenes with swords and torture, and of course last but not least, the fun torture devices such as the man sized rattan ball which the prisoner had to stay inside, these had nails pointing inwards.
