Sala Daeng BTS Station is located on Silom Road near the intersection of Rama 4 Road, from here you can change over to the MRTA.
Supermarkets in the local area is down to a Robinsons and a Tops Supermarket in Central Silom, but the streets are crowded with stalls selling just about everything you can think of.
Wandering down Thanon Silom you will find just about every fast food restaurant imaginable if you need a farang food fix, you will also find many international restaurants in the Sala Daeng area including the Barbican on Soi Thaniya.
Hotels near to the Sala Daeng BTS Station include the Dusit Thani, Sukhothai, Banyan Tree and the Swiss Lodge.
Around Sala Daeng you will find a few British style pubs including Molly Malone's on Soi Convent & The Roadhouse located on the corner of Surawong and Rama IV Roads, also a few massage parlours including Ogoto on Saladaeng Soi 1.
This areas main claim to fame or infamy is of course Pat Pong the adult entertainment area, with bars and gogos being the main draw of the tourist dollar, the longest standing expat bar in the area is of course The Madrid. Lumphini park is quite a walk but a nice place to get away from the crowds if you need a break from the chaos that is Bangkok. Wat Hualampong is within walking distance of Silom MRT and Sala Daeng BTS.
If you are traveling to Hua Lamphong Train Station you need to get off here and get on the MRT.
