    New posts

Whenever I post anything, and then click on "New Posts", I can not see the one I have just added, or any of my own posts. Is there some setting I need to change to see my own postings?

That is because when you click the "new posts" button you view all the posts that other members have replied to, your post wont show until someone else replies to it.

Then the thread in which you posted on will appear with an icon in the shape of a tick like this thread will when you click "new posts" because me and Thetyim have replied.

If you wish to view your posts click "Todays posts".

    Hope that helped.
    Welcome to the jungle!

    Thanks for your replies!

I've checked my ignore list, and it is clear.

Ice Maiden is right that I can see my post now that someone has posted replies in it. But I'm still a little bit lost- can't figure out why I can't see an existing thread after I have posted something into it, and can only see it if someone posts after I do.

    Any more suggestions??

Thats just the way the forum works Meoff.

If you wish to see your replies like I said you can click "Todays Posts" which is under the "Quick Links" option.

    That's all I can suggest.

Do like a retard namely me. After you have posted simply hit home or go back two times to get to the home page where you started.

I think you must be using a different browser Icey.
I can see my posts after I have posted them even if it is the last post in the thread.
    Must be a cache problem.

Hit refresh and see if you get it then

I think he's referring to the new posts function AO.
I sit here all day just hitting the new posts button, never sure which room I'm going into.
A much more convenient way of getting about the site.

I'm not sure there are many people who actually navigate their way about it.

Thetyim - I can see my posts after I have posted but when I hit "New Posts" all the latest threads show that have replies, if I have only just replied to that thread it wont show until it has recieved a reply from another poster.

When I go through the threads on the "New Posts" pages each one vanishes from the list after I read it or reply but returns once someone makes a reply to it.

I'm sure this is the same for everyone.

    I use Mozilla Firefox.

You can see what part of the forum you are in by looking at the top of the page. Like the top of this thread says:

TeakDoor.com - The Thailand Forum > Newbies Section > TroubleShooting & Suggestions > New posts

Sometimes I a post of mine will show when I view newest threads. Timing issue I think. The search should be "newest posts you ain't seen yet." Usually the only threads shown in newest search are ones that have not been read (or posted on) by you. you want to see your latest stuff you'll most likely have to go to the forum the thread is in to look it up. Should be near the top.

Sometimes that happens not because of timing issues but because there are posts on that thread you haven't seen yet. Just as you have posted a poster could of posted just a little bit before you and you hadn't seen it yet.

That thread will remain on the "New Posts" section until you have read that thread again and noticed the newer posts, sometimes they are a few pages back.

So I've tried 3 browsers- IE, Firefox and Opera, and each gives the same result of not being able to see my posts.

If it is like you say Icey- just the way the forum works.. I'll learn to live with it and use the "Today's Posts" instead. Unfortunately the Quick Links menu drops down behind the Google links frame in Opera, and can't click on "Today's Posts".

Thanks for all the replies and help. Not a big deal- but pisses Meoff!

    Sorry about that dude.

Confused me a little at first but I got used to the way the forum works and now I wouldn't have it any other way.

But surely if you post something and then hit view new posts your last post would not be considered new as it was done before you hit view new posts... well probably anyway

If it worked according to your theory Dirtydog- The New Posts button would show nothing- because every existing post was written before I click the button.

That is unless this forum software is smarter than I thought and can show future posts!

the post has already been seen and is stored in your temp folders or browser history, thats why it doesn't look for it a second time, computers are smart, they know what you have already seen
