Show last unread post button

I don't use the 'new posts' facility, because there are quite a few subforums on TD I don't read or participate in. I tend to go to the forums I like, & click on topics I've been reading, or new ones that interest me. Obviously, I use the 'last unread post' icon, but find if I haven't read the thread for a while (maybe it's just been bumped), instead of the last unread post, it takes me back to the OP - even if I've previously posted in the thread.
What is the statute of limitations on a thread? How long can you leave it without reading it, before you automatically lose your place (ie where you were) in it?

It seems to fuck things up when an update of the forum software is performed, but I'm sure there is a 10 day limit or similar. DD will know.

10 days if I remember rightly, then it forgets you were ever there

Tell you what I do sometimes, especially on dreary forums, is read backwards, so just hit the last post button. The incisive comments are invariably re-quoted and therefore avail you of the opportunity to skip the dross. for example: this post of mine.

I don't have that button on my screen, I do use the "view First unread" tho, but sometimes it don't function so I have to scroll..
