    YouTube HTML5

So what's with the YouTube embedded videos now being HTML5?

I've ungraded my browser to the latest version but still get the black stripe.

Is there a HTML5 "flash" player that I haven't found yet?

Not a biggy as I can simply ignore the videos but...

because flash has become a favourite delivery mechanism for malware and virus' - everyone should be using flashblock or have browser options set to only d/load and play flash if specifically asked to - ads in flash content have the ability to infect your computer by you just visiting the website

I block my browsers from retrieving masses of stuff because I have little trust - mostly I just want to recieve text anyway - keep the bling for the closet dwellers

just use a browser with full html5 support and turn off flash
If you torture data for enough time , you can get it to say what you want.

^ How to turn off Flash? Looks as though I can only uninstall it. If I update Chrome, that should do it?

I'm a cave dweller. I don't use this PC for anything important, no banking, etc. If it blew up tomorrow, nothing would be lost.

The YouTube problem seems to have sorted itself out without any adjustments.

as of last week I think chrome turns off flash automatically - mozilla started doing it earlier in the year

Flashblock is not needed on Chrome - go to settings/advanced/content settings/plugins and select "click to play". Now flash will not run automatically. But you can decide to click on something and allow it to play if you want. Works great - no plugin needed.
