I use EasyGIF Animator. I got it a long time ago as a .rar file "arn-ezgifani.rar" which had a "replacement" .exe file in it.

It's not easy to get rid of the white bits on the edge - I did it by replacing them in every frame with forum-coloured pixels so they don't show up. If I understood more about what "Removal method" means and "Restore background" and "Leave", etc I might be able to do a better job.

Strangely, I just tried my "rofl" smiley on a white background and can't see the dark pixels that I added. This just proves I don't know what the hell is going on.

Not an expert, either, but you can choose the background colour, and make it opaque or transparent, I haven't mastered it yet, either - well don't know that particular GIF-animator, it could be using different terms for it.

Now, if only he could fix the "Message:" box position on the screen, and stop TD internal links adding extra text like this - I did not add the "(This smiley)" - the world would be a better place.

The text on the links is there to make the links more search engine friendly and i really wouldn't like to remove them as we need every little advantage we can get with the SE's. Hope you can live with that.
