It's just an extra precaution and as I said it's not the primary reason for the nik change. And it's not too late bc nothing untoward has happened yet and I don't expect the people that do remember my name to do anything about it except call me by it. And it's not like a big deal (and yes I have had my identity stolen due to an online hack but not bc of my use of a forum). You have to post your real name on FB eg.
