Exactly dill..the minesite I was working on in Laos for over 10 years had a new general.manager who was a bit of a kunt to say the least.this old kunt was a mate of the CEO and was put there to kick ass and basicly sack as many kunts as he could. Some funsters put up a bunch of YouTubes using a Hitler format absolutely taking the piss out of this guy and others to the Point they called in lawyers instead of just laughing it off. Anyway they never found the main culprit but sacked a lot of people for opening the email.and sharing it. That GM was an asshole that nobody liked or respected and got butthurt at the age of 68 . Yes he should of been retired . But he wasn't that smart and lost a bunch of money..him.and the wife hated Lao even though they were on top $ and living in luxury.
I posted about my mining time in Lao but when all this shit was going down I asked admin to take my post down and they did. I think Norton archived it but unfortunately it was lost. Never mind still.had plenty of pics and put up a new one. How mining in the Lao pdr saved me from becoming a pornstar.

Mendip, why is your office door so heavy duty? Is it a safe room or something in case of pirates?

    I don't really know.

There seems to be a lot of these fire doors, especially close to the stairway, which makes sense. Cabin doors are much less heavy.

Maybe they are installed at all communal areas? The doors actually on the stairway are pinned open by magnets in the normal way but during a fire drill the magnets are turned off and all the doors automatically close.

This is the mess for this boat. It's right in the bows and directly under the laundry room.

There's another fire door leading through to the galley, probably the most dangerous part of any vessel. Those portholes are on the starboard side.

The mess extends right across the width of the vessel. I sit at that end table by the port side portholes.

The mess isn't as salubrious as the mess on my last boat (and the food isn't as good either, but I keep quiet about that). This boat is older and smaller than I've been accustomed to and I still sometimes wonder how things have come to this.

Well... it's for the dosh of course. Those school fees won't pay themselves. I'll be pissed off if the daughter ends up a noodle seller.

This job is drawing to a close. The final tasks were to map colonies of Feather Stars, a protected species of crinoid that if found, will necessitate cable route deviations to leave them undisturbed.

There's a crew change planned in Peterhead on Wednesday and Peterhead is a day and a half away, so we need to get moving... but...

It's never good to see the ROV on deck.

And still there tonight... maybe the crew change will be in Ullapool at this rate.

Peterhead or Ullapool... it makes little difference to me as I'm staying on for another week or so but I guess Peterhead will have a greater choice of shopping. This leads me to a small dilemma... at crew change I can get ashore to do some shopping and was hoping to stock up on sausages, bacon and black pudding, and maybe a bit more cheese if there's any room. I need to so this at this crew change because directly when the next job finishes it looks like I'll be staying onboard for the transit across to Norway and here ain't no Norwegian food worth taking back home. This means my shopping will stay in the boat's cold store for a week or so, then on the long haul flights home, then maybe a couple of days in Sukhumvit before the trek up the hill to Korat when it will finally make it to the freezer.

Will sausages stay fresh that long?

No way. It will be rancid, and so will the cheese.

Don’t buy fresh. There’s plenty of good Italian style sausages and salamis you can purchase that don’t need cold storage.

Standard doors are A-60 - one hour fire rated close to the bridge depending on regs, year built, doors will be class B which gives you the reassurance of 2 hours fire protection!

Here's an idea, instead of spunking your dosh on ladyboy cock over 2 nights in a Soi 22 Hotel , why not just pop to Villamarket and pick up your Cathedral City, Walls and Richmonds sausages, Bury black pudding and Easter eggs.... Maybe even stretch to a saucy little bunny outfit for the missus instead of the dogs, you strange fukker.

The money I save on buying cheese, sausages and Easter eggs in the UK will more than pay for a variety of activities around Sukhumvit. No 'ladyboy cock' involved.

And Villa Market don't sell 'saucy little bunny outfits'... I wouldn't have thought.

But you got me thinking while lying in my bunk last night and I found these on Lazada.

And only 129 Baht, what's not to like?!!

Choosing the colour was a problem, but I went for pink. If the wife won't wear it, as I suspect, Anna is in for a treat!

Anyway, back to the real world.

We finally finished up the job on the West Coast of Scotland after completing the cable route surveys and extra lines due to the requirement to avoid feather stars. I think it's good that so much care is taken to protect rare marine life.

Feather stars are a species of crinoid, a but like a starfish. These were around 15cm long.

And there's a spider crab as well. These aren't protected.

On completion of the surveys, yesterday we travelled the return leg to Peterhead in calm seas.

That's Cape Wrath in he distance, the northwest tip of the British mainland.

I reckon that being a lighthouse man would be a great job. No neighbours, no nothing. No way the wife would follow me either.

But you'd have to watch your alcohol intake living so close to that cliff.

Cape Wrath is a busy part of the world.

The cliffs along the northern Scottish coast are festooned with wind turbines.

This is the island of Hoy, part of the Orkneys. You can just make out the cliffs and I think the Old Man of Hoy was just at the end of the cliffs at left of the picture.

Maybe that step half way down the end of the cliff was the Old Man of Hoy, or maybe it was just around the cliff and out of view. I've 'nearly' seen so many things in my life doing this job.

At first I thought this was the northeast tip of the mainland...

But after zooming out it seemed to be Dunnet Head, a promontory sticking out to the north.

    And on we pressed.

At the end of my shift we passed through the Pentland Firth, between the Orkneys and the Scottish mainland.

And as we passd the Stroma lighthouse... (a bad picture as the deck is still cordoned off due to Chito's ongoing painting operations)

We could see John o' Groats in the distance, the northeast tip of the British mainland.

I zoomed out and it should be possible to see the Scottish mainland starboard side and the Orkneys on the prot side, but the visibilty wasn't great.

During the night we carried on southwards down the Scottish coast and are now waiting for a pilot off Peterhead.

Bacon and cheese shopping coming up, but I think I'll give the sausages a miss.

You may have said ahoy but you were too far South to see the Old man.

Great pictures, safe home, I wll be at swampy myself soon if you overburdened with airline cutlery you can use it a ballast for the Missus, the way she drifts round corners I may invest in dumbells once I've got some of dem Rabbit ears!

It doesn't. I stunk the house out last night, airfrying some that had been festering in the cupboard for a week or two.
