Thread: Do Thais fear bad luck if they overheat sliced bread?

After nine years here I would say this is a very valid question.

Request "Suk mak mak" when ordering toast, and add as many 'Maks' as you want because it won't make any difference - and you will get two warm slices of bread, maybe brittle ones and if you are lucky one might have a weak singe.

Why should they...???, as there is nothing that overwhelmingly extraordinary about Western cuisine, food, diet, etc. It is what it is. One could be anywhere and find a percentage of the population that couldn't cook fvck all and then many have the ability to charm the culinary world over. Personally, I know scores upon scores of {average} Thais that might easily contradict your statement to the point of embarrassment.

well, if theyre working in a farang restaurant as a cook, why shouldnt they? If I got a job in a chinky restaurant would it be OK if I couldnt cook rice?

I wonder how most of these Thais get on working abroad with their lackadaisical attitude to work.

I went to pizza comany the other week with the missus

I ordered an xpan, she had a spaghetti bolognese.

They delivered hers first with the drinks

She finished her food. I must have waited half an hour, then got fed up and asked for the check bin

During this time I had noticed a fair few motocy delivery drivers running around grabbing there food from the kitchen

Anyhow the manager came over and said pizza come in 5 minutes, I said no, I like to eat at the same time as the person Im dining with and to knock my pizza off the bill.

She understood that

The worst bit was explaining that I have made phone orders and had them delivered quicker than this, to which you get the bowed head, no understand, look at your Thai missus, dopey [at][at][at][at] look with that fake ass smile as if to say who's this asshole

I was talking about Thai food. And I guess if you like eating shit, then yes, they can. I don't and will very rarely eat Thai outside of home or a couple of good places in Bangkok.

The main problem is that they use crap ingredients either to save money or because they know no better, and food hygiene?! Forget it.

Remember, we're talking about restaurants, not home cooking.
