    Arabs without funds

With all this turmoil in the Arab world, how far will this affect Arabs in Thailand ?
I have only been here 4 days and i have already seen 3 Arabs have their c/cards declined.
One family last night in Siam Paragon were very distressed and i paid their small resturant bill in the food hall area, it was only 850bht but their c/cards were declined.
I would not like to be anywhere abroad without funds but i certainly would not want to be an Arab in Thailand with a large hotel bill i cannot pay.
The Arab worlds banking systems must be under huge pressure i guess right now.

Kind of strange, Bower. You just paid a $30 bill for some rags you didn't know???? And I suppose you think they would have done the same for you if you were caught short....

You shouldn't knock a man for his generosity Davis, even if it is for Arabs.

I think many Arabs will get problems when their banks fail to honour their direct debits, the card companies will block the cards, even debit cards.

I paid their tab as they had small kids getting quite upset, kids are kids, i hope someone would do the same for any of mine should they ever be in need, i too belive in karma.......not much else but karma, its worth the shot.
I gave the father my business card, i declined his details. He will either send me the money or not...watch this space for an update....but dont hold your breath!

^ The Cairo banks were closed for a few days during the disturbances so understandable that other neighbouring countries have followed suit.

Your generosity is deserving of a green Bower.

I have plenty of problems with the Arab world, but their tradition of assistance and hospitality towards strangers is absolutely not one of them.

No idea, eaten by confused wife before i got back from Bali !

It does restore a little faith in human nature though.
Its funny when i lent it, i felt perhaps i will never see my money again, oh well.
Now i am really glad i did but is it selfish to think i may have only lent it for the feelgood factor ?

^I kind of doubt that. I think you did it for the kid factor. And because you are a nice guy. I would have let him sit there with his kids and wife weeping. Good thing we got some like you left, and they're not all like me.
