    Are you missing the UK?

Are you thinking about returning to the UK?

ITV is keen to hear from Brits who have lived abroad for years without (or very rarely) visiting home, but who are now thinking about returning permanently to Britain. Every year more and more Brits are giving up their life in the sun to move back to the UK – last year almost 100,000 expats came home.

Perhaps you miss your family and friends, maybe schooling is a problem for your kids, or could you be longing for the simple things? Warm beer, chocolate hobnobs or even the English weather! Are some family members longing for home while others are not so sure?

You will be flown back to Blighty and given the opportunity to test drive life in the UK. Finally the choice will be yours: to remain an expat for good or come back home.

If you are interested in taking part or if you know anyone who might be suitable, please contact Katy Lock as soon as possible by email:

I know that the last time I was in the UK I was test driving like a thai. Lane changes every thirty seconds and couldn't figure out why folks were blowing their horns.

Personally I don't much like the word Blighty

    Poor Bastards!

I bet their kicking themselves now, it probably seemed like a good idea at the time but now they realised for sure that the UK licks balls big time and are miserable as hell and taxed to the eye balls.

    LOL

I think a better idea for a program is to take a single guy from the UK, for intance someone in their thirties who lives with their mum and stacks shelves at Sainsbury's and send them to Thailand. They could get a chance to test drive a TEFL course and live the Thai highlife on 300 quid a month. The viewers would just lap it up so they would.

What a meathead. You'd be taxed as much in Thailand if you could earn a half decent wage there. And in Thailand you'd have fuck all to show for it.

Yep, its not pretty. They are easy to cope with tho, unless you have gone soft after hiding in Thailand for too long. Just hang around with some ho's before you go back should prepare you well enough.

Thing is, Thailand has just as many, if not more, social problems, hence its known as a "developing country".

That's interesting Smeg. A while back you said that chav culture wasn't a problem ( I know your not saying it now) but you have noticed a trend then.

A slight trend, Mrsquirrel, slight, but I think its due to the fact that there has always been an element of ignoramouses in the UK, its just that they are becoming constantly more distant from mainstream society and thus more noticeable.

Hell, I used to firebomb old grannies letterboxes and shit like that 25 years ago just for kicks.

Thailand seems to attract so many people with this dosey mentality. "Duhhhhhhh, I'm gonna leave the developed world and go to earn a pittance in the developing world where I can buy cheap locally produced stuff and no longer afford anything else, including a pension, international level schooling, healthcare etc, and pay minimal taxes, or I'm gonna earn a big fat salary there and pay loads of taxes but still get a shit service consisting of nothing from the Thai govt. "

    Actually, it's not - a "developing country".

Not that it makes that much difference I guess, but Thailand is officially what is known as a Newly Industrialized Country (sometimes they use "Nation" and other times they use "NIC")

and when referring to multiple countries NICS...

I heard K.Supachai speaking when he was head of the WTO...he defined NICS as "Narok Is Coming Soon"...almost prophetic...

    edited for Smeg...Narok=hell

Hey Smeggy, long time no see. Off topic, but I think it would be entertaining to see you in a dual of wits with our new whipping boy, Kerux. Any chance of you starting a thread along the lines of "All God Botherers are Total Losers" or something like that?

Funny that - I was thinking to myself the other day - wonder when Smeg is going to show up again (despite having promised to leave TD for good)? My guess is that he is starting to realise how miserable life in Bournemouth (especially the food and women), and is planning a return to Thailand to continue his highly successful lifestyle here as a wannabe TOFL'er.

Or perhaps he thought kerux challenged his position as TD's village idiot?

leave poor Smeg alone. He has made a terrible mistake which he sincerely regrets, but cannot come to admit it

I am sure he will have a happy, long and fulfilled life in Bournemouth
