Today is the start of the Grouse shooting season in the UK.

That brings back memories of my youth, made a fortune as a Grouse beater.

It was great fun and not a little bit dangerous, especially later on in the day once the toffs had, had a few snorts.

My abiding memory will be laying on the heather as the toffs blasted away, then the whistle would come for the all clear and you kinda poked your head up warily and had a good look around before getting to your feet.

Every day is Grouse drinking day for me

Never understood the attraction of killing things for the sake of it though. Surely as a race we have evolved in to beings that don't get erections from taking the life of another creature, or maybe not.
