Thread: How important is a face that fits ?

One of the Thai politicians I have always loathed is or was Samak, now no longer in the land of the living. He was not a difficult man to dislike. Unpleasant by character and not pretty to look at.

Watching Abhisit on television last night, all smiles and good looks whilst justifying his crackdown on protesters, live rounds et al. I couldn't help pondering what a good frontman he is for the govournment. How different it would be if he had the face and mannerisms of Samak ?

Thais like to look at pleasant things. It is not easy for an ugly Thai to find work in a high profile position. Even getting a job in McDonalds requires a minimal level of presentability.

It seems a trifling thing but with someone like Abhisit spoon feeding propaganda to the electorate I can't help wondering how much support the Democrats would lose if people had to deal with Suthep all the time.

they're all pretty ugly really and a lot of the women if you look close enough.

I've looked real close to many Thai women plenty of times and I don't find them ugly....each to their own I guess.

I've got to disagree with you on this, I find the average Thai woman to be far more attractive than the average westerner.

beauty is only skin deep . have seen the beautiful turn real ugly in a heart-beat . but yeah some of them are stunners . and they usually have their heads stuck up their arses or pussy with their hand in your back pocket. quite frankly i really don't understand why so many farangs get so heavily involved with these ladies ,,, well yeah i do understand but "married" surely you're own private whore because between the ears not a lot happens after the honeymoon period.

Physical features influence a lot of decisions

According to a Cornell University study, unattractive defendants are 22 percent more likely to be convicted than good-looking ones. And the unattractive also get slapped with harsher sentences - an average of 22 months longer in prison.

The study, "When Emotionality Trumps Reason," was authored by Cornell graduate Justin Gunnell and Stephen Ceci, a professor of developmental psychology. It examines how some jurors make decisions rationally, based on facts and logic, while others reason emotionally, taking into consideration factors unrelated to the case - attractiveness being one of them.
