What's difference between Chavez & Thaksin?

I think it's time for a coup in Venezuela

well Chavez hasn't done anything wrong and he is a war hero unlike others.

How about a coup in the US for regime change ? well deserved. Maybe we could ask China for assistance.

I was watching the Communist News Network (CNN) this morning and there are some striking similarities between the two. The most notable difference though being that Chavez mostly doesn't follow through on his promises to the poor. The most striking similarity being that the majority of the "educated" thinking he is hurting their country and tearing down everything they built.

Considering the above, a regime change from within is very likely.

When you have an oil rich country with 80% of the population being poor, you know that the rich elite haven't being entirely honnest in the management of the country. I think Chavez is doing the right thing. The rich wants to keep their privileges and abuse the system while leaving bits to the poor. How is this bad ? don't you believe in heros anymore ?

Ceburat ... in comparing the two countries and two leaders I don't see how one could reach any other eventual conclusion. Chavez is only in power because of the uneduated masses as was Thaksin. The middle class, educated class and wealthy are not happy with Chavez.

I agree 100 per cent. That is why I said a regime change from within is very likely.

    I agree.

The uneducated masses are usually the ones that put most leaders in power. It's the same in the U.S. Therefore the propaganda and promises are directed at these masses.

Chavez has won close elections and the next one is predicted to be close.

You can give the poor everything & they'll piss it against the wall. The rich, get richer, but also invest in growing the economy.

    Which one is best?

You can't compare the two, first of all.

Second of all Chavez is coming up for re-election in December.

Another overly simplistic thread that does not make any sense at all.

you mean investing in yatch, Ferraris and Gucci bags !!! oh yeah, that's not pissing it against the wall.

while using the money to help starving children or education wouldn't be useful.

Which one is better I ask again ?

believing anything on the US CNN is a little naive SK

Chavez is a popular hero as he is actually addressing the poverty in Venezuela

Of course the Bush admin don't like him as he does not seem to be kissing their butt, as they require. All countries must support the US policies otherwise they are threatened with "being blown back to the stoneage"
    I have reported your post

One of the reasons the Bush administration hates Chavez is because he asked Exxon and other foreign companies to pay more taxes for working in Venezuela.

Under a former deal made with previouse government, Exxon pays 1% in taxes for all of their operations.

    Yes, that's right: 1%

Chavez is now going out of his way to annoy Bush+

being a democratically elected leader of his country, all they can do is sit back and fume.....except for the CIA of course, who are desperately trying all sorts of tricks to discredit him

Bush+ does not hesitate to try to destroy democratically elected goverments, because they are not the correct result, like Palestine

never mind the people, what about the power

    Correct.

Hamas was democratically elected. The elections were monitored by independent, foreign organizations.

Evo Morales was democratically elected and Bush stated his country 'was moving away from democracy.'

    Very strange statement.

Question: if Bush wants the spread of demoracy throughout the world, why does he do business with China?

Bush only wants goverments he can control, obviously

well, not Bush, but the people behind the throne

his recent remark that "he had not heard that Pakistan was threatened by one of his senior staffers" does tend to make him look even more foolish

^ He quit drinking and snorting coke. But he never went to rehab. So, some think that's why he says and does what he says and does.

    We just don't know.
