Expand - well basically I'm here in the UK and don't really have to worry about much (ie: money, health etc..) but I'm bored shitless and want the uncertainty of living in Thailand again.

guess that's the same with many people although a lot of the folks I meet here reckon that Thailand is not a good place to go back to (ie: the ones that have never been).
Grass is always greener syndrome CE? Give it a couple of months back in the land of fake smiles and sleaze, and you'll be dead bored again.

^ That's probably true - I reckon 6 months per year in each country is the way to go

Smeg, have I got a book for you. Please don't be put off by the stupid cover or the inept marketing. The author is an old friend of mine and puts a new slant on the old anti-Thaiophile angle. You'll love it. Validates much of what you have to say but comes to a slightly different conclusion on how to deal with it. I think you can order it from where ever you are:

Yes CE, I like to have 5/6 months in Thailand (winter in Europe) then spend the rest of the year back in Europe, or travelling

unless some work comes along, then I go there

If you get bored in one place, then you will probably get bored in another. Nothing to do with grass, more a symptom of yourself

    maybe a sign of depression?
    I have reported your post

that is quite a funny book buadhai, and, as you said, it does help the anti-Thais find a way to enjoy life there

This author, writing under a pseudonym, of course, is a very brilliant guy. An American, former professor at, I think, Thammasat, who is now retired and living in Chiangmai. I correspond with him several times a day and am always amazed at his keen observations, wily analysis and constant wit.

Good luck CE. Just remember that life is what you make it. A lot of people who end up in Thailand go there for stimulation, because they are bored or non-achieving in their home country, perhaps due to a lack of hobbies and/or social skills. I was happily welcomed back into my local footie team last weekend, and although I played some football in Thailand, its just not the same atmosphere or social occasion.
