    Reds: The Monkey Democracy

Wouldn't it be simpler and more effective for them to go back to their villages and organize a real platform for social progress and wait calmly for the next election ? instead, they are trying to force their way without an after plan (or maybe the obvious one), and these protests have become increasingly ridiculous and pointless.

I am not even sure how the red leaders can keep a straight face talking to their constituents when they are making calls that an early election will begin to solve all their problem. Any logical person would know this is not true. Of course, how are they keeping a straight face with their supporters after sleeping at night in 4 stars hotel while the poor cattle stay in the streets. So there must be other motivations behind the red leaders resolve ? what could possibly they be ? what could motivate someone to go into an abyss of political suicide of staging violent protest when the payoff is so "small" and so "risky" ?

I can only find 2 answers: sheer stupidity in monkey logic after everything else failed, or money. It's tough call as I know those characters flaws are deeply ingrained in Thai logic.

behind the eight ball as usual butters ..................

In a country that has seen more than a dozen coups over the past eight decades, Chaisawat Weangwong, a 42-year old rice farmer, said the crisis had opened his eyes to the influence of the military in Thai politics and the need for a system where “the majority chooses the winner.”

“This is not for Thaksin,” he said. “This is for democracy.”

^ I will wait for greater evidence than just a superficial article from the NYT

it certainly doesn't reflect reality on the Reds demonstration stage,

Butterball, for the longest time I thought you were just trying to wind people up with your inane comments on the red's rallying in BKK. Calling them monkeys ad nauseum, proclaiming they have no cause, no support, and were dwindling in numbers each and every day, to the point that by now, if you are to be believed, there would be three Isaan soi dogs and two ghosts left to show the colours.

Six weeks later on the Reds are still there. Merely by closing off a major SHOPPING intersection they seem to have brought the government to it's knees. Agree with their methodology or not, any sentient person has to admit that they have a cause that they believe in, and the discipline and commitment to stick to it.

Your continued denial of the the facts on the ground has been nothing short of incredible, and though comedic at times, now borders on the maniacal.

^ well, yes more money will do that too

you are welcome to share any "insider" info we don't have already about the Red movement, for now, they seem to be a bit lightweight on the substance side, but plenty on the superficial

Don't get me wrong, terrorism work, always had, the west does it all the time (the Americans are the new champion though), but I am puzzled about how "educated" farangs could fall so easily into such a scam.

well, according to our resident Red authority DrB, the UDD is not about Democracy, it's a pressure group with one purpose, calling early elections for Chavalit and Thaksin proxy Somchai

so at the end it turns out that Thaksin is again in the picture, and the movement purpose is nothing else than paving the way for a Thaksin return

    what a surprise
