Well, I understand what you're saying slimboy but TEFling is nothing to me other than padding on the pension. As well as being it seems darn near the only option to make a little extra spare cash if your not hired from outside the country or start your own business.
I understand, to a degree, what Smeg always talks about as well ... and isn't there a recent change or a change underway that's going to make it an even more difficult visa process for TEFLers ? I also get PMs and emails from in-country expats who really don't have much good to say about working legal as a TEFLer in Thailand.
You know Slimboy ... you are kind of understanding my point ... for eaxample, you're in Singapore and I could definintely get a job there within 1-3 years. But I'm talking about US civil service jobs and there are plenty of them throughout Asia I could get eventually ... even in Bangkok.
I think the right advice you guys are giving me is to just come there and figure it out from there as I go. I've pretty much decided that I'm not going to work the first year even TEFLing unless an especially sweet deal comes along.
Over the weekend I damn near talked myself into sending the ole lady back from Nov 15th to Feb 15th to make an addition to our house instead of just adding a kitchen. Then we started talking again this morning and it was back to Nakhonsawan.
Let me put it this way fellas ... I'm heading to Thailand early next year come hell or high water ... there ain't no turning back ... it's just a matter of where I'm going to start off and how long I'll be there.
