    Thai wasp dilema

I was looking from here out of the window and I thought I had something in my eye, ie there was a big blurry patch about 20 or 30 meters away that I couldn't really focus on to make out what it was, so just thinking there was something in my eye I didn't take any notice and carried on working, yet every time I looked the blurry patch seemed to be in the same area.

So I decided to actually walk to the window to see what it was, Thai wasps, millions of them swarming together in the sky then I saw quite a few coming towards my open window, no screens up this high so I closed it, then I noticed I got about 100 of these poxy little Thai wasps on the inside of the window, I can't open the window to let them out otherwise their mates will come and join them, so have they come here to die or do I have to kill them, also which nasty chemical spray is best for getting them deaded the quickest as I have never been stung by one so don't want to be.

The wasps are bunching together now so they are obviously planning something I don't think they are very happy as it is black glass and the sun is on it and the curtain is behind them so hopefully they will cook themselves.

Maybe I should not tell you this, but fuck it. I have it on good authority that bkkandrew was in China just last week looking to purchase insect spy drones to investigate something. I'm not sure if he went for the 'wasp' or the 'dragonfly' model. So be careful what you do with them.

Well they have had 2 hours of lovely sun but only 2 seem to have died, the only insect spray I have is that water based mossie spray, takse a while to kill a mossie with that so I think it will just make the wasps angry with me, but something has to be done

Well the main swarm went so I opened the windows again about 30 minutes ago, just 3 left in here now, really didn't like the idea of spraying them and having them attacking me en masse so to speak

Maybe they are all waiting for you to go outside, seeing as you imprisoned and then cooked some of their relatives, then they will attack! Careful out there dog...

Ask your Missus, they are probably a small bee, rather than a wasp, Thai word is something like "MEEN" they won't really sting you, in fact they are pretty docile unless you stand on their nests.

If it's not MEEN then it could be the standard BEE, "Pung" again, they won't bother you and you can actually let them walk around on your hands etc, they won't sting unless provoked.

However, should they be bigger, about 3/4" or so and rather dark in colour, then these are a type of Hornet, or a type of wood wasp, however, it is unusual for them to swarm, again ask a Thai, if it is "Taw" be careful, and the worst bastards I have ever been stung by is a fat "TAW", it is black with a bright orange band, and that is "Taw Hua Sua" 10 stings can be enough to kill you.

ARS spray kills them pretty quick, but they get pretty pissed off before they die... and they will chase you! and over a pretty fair distance too...they won't give up for over about 50 metres, and then they still seem to send out scouts to look for you!

    Be careful!

I posted a while back when I had a bee problem (PUNG) and they settled on the Galay on the roof, I got all sorts of responses about getting in proffesionals to get rid of them, no need, they are a "sick" swarm and will disappear in a day or two...they are basically "fucked"

Taw, they are a different ballgame, and if you have kids, keep them well away from them, 3 kids were killed not a mile from me from fucking with those bastards!
