    Books

    I want them.

If you've any for sale please let me know. I'm not too picky as to the subject matter. Language is also not an issue. They don't have to be in English.

Condition is relevant. I'd prefer decent, not loose pages etc.

pm or here to let me know.

    cheers

I'm out bush a bit mate.

We're looking at putting together a bit of a library. Therefore, any books that are taking up space are welcome.

Chitown very kindly sold us some recently. It all went well with the postal service and ATM bank transfer.

    Looking for more.

I used to go to Juktujuk market for second hand books before I got a handheld reader.

get away from the front stores and go through the stacks for the gems.

Jandajoy, what is the library? is it for the local kids or what?

Sadly, not directly able to help you as my bookshelves are a bit bare here, but if it is for a good cause, I can try and help. English books?

I can confirm the red mark is the area of second hand books at Jatujak Market.

Near there is the greatest chocolate waffles I've ever had.

If only, I have 7 banana boxes full of books that i want to get rid of. Sadly, you would have to fly to Swissiland to collect them. I'd throw in a fondue...

Blatant bump to keep things going.......

Another friendly soul has kindly sold us a box or two but we're looking for more.

Any books you've got that are in a half decent condition.

I'll pay a fair price and cover postage.

In answer to your question Missi, Yes it is for a library, primarily for local kids.

I'll back up JJ.s blatant bump. I know readers are a bit possessive about their books, I'm one of them. But take a step back and look at your prized bookshelves, groaning with tomes that you won't give up because you might re-read them at some later date. Look at 'em. How many of 'em are you going to re-read? How nice would it be to free up some shelf space? You know you are going to be buying books every week anyway..you know you need the shelf space.

    To clarify the project.......

A local English teacher ( Thai) and a local doctor were discussing the lack of non Thai reading material in the area. The schools have bugger all and there are a lot of high school kids that come here to school.

I got involved as I know the Doctor.

The Doc has a clean dry shed that she's prepared to let us use for storage. The idea is that we put together a bit of a library. We'll put up the initial stake to buy the books. They'll be stored in the shed and the teacher will rotate a selection around the various schools.

After a while surplus or irrelevant books will be sold at my mates bar to backpackers etc. The profit will go into buying more books for the library.

A bit of recycling if you will.

Eventually we hope to have a stock of suitable material for the high school kids funded from "unsuitable" stuff flogged to tourists.

Anything appropriate for primary will be a bonus.

We're also looking for videos and DVDs though we hope to download a far bit of the net.

So that's the plan. We're off to a reasonable start but are looking for lots more.

    All offers accepted.

    Cheers
