The emotionally disturbed son of Kathy Bates was a revelation. The main characters were so richly drawn and simultanaously sympathetic and flawed. Winslet's fate had a kind of inevitability about it. A true modern tragedy.

Which I suppose is what Teddy is getting at only with better economy of language in his case
