    Anyone tee-total?

I'm thinking about riding out the recession in Bangkok.

I have recently given up drinking, in a belated bid to stop dying, which has been fine so far, but I really doubt I can live in bkk without beer - the temptation and supply is just too great, and let's face it there's not an awful lot else to do.

    So, anyone tee-total?

Well I gave up drinking as a lifestyle about four years ago but will still have an occasional beer, so probably wouldn't qualify as a teetotlar.

Probably only experience 1 big night on the piss a week these days and for the same reason as you (stop dying).

I really don't miss it that much as I am not a big fan of alcohol but enjoy getting pissed and the crack of going out with a few mates.

Therefore teetotal 26 days a month on average.

The definition of a teetotaller is to refrain entirely, so you would'nt, and neither would I, even though there may be a three week gap between having a few.

I am in the process off stopping drinking, for health reasons, first couple of months were tough, but getting to be more total than tee, and its not that bad, after 30 plus years being a pisshead, its a different experience........

I went to the shop at 7am today to buy a pint of milk & didn't realise until I went to put it in my tea that I'd bought half a litre of vodka instead.

I'm guessing I need to get on the wagon.

I don't see the point though.

Monday to Thursday, I am often not drinking at all.

Mostly for health reasons. 40 is approaching and I'm fat because of beer. High Blood pressure, etc.

The only negative is that when I don't drink I cannot sleep. Last week I actually did not sleep at all. It's OK because I had to work at night. My body is not use to not have alcohol to metabolize, or whatever, yet.

As for saying it's hard to avoid the brewskies in Bangkok, that's because it's a habit, IMO.

It's also mental. Once you get used to not having beer it won't be a big deal. You probably find more interesting things do dabble in, and to do.

But you do not know this as it has been damn near 28 years since my last drink, and I know of no one that was here when I drank that knew me.

If you can go 4 days without it then it is all mental as you don't need it, your head does because you think about it and to stupid to think of anything else to do, and as long as you keep your system fucked up you will not sleep well, Rome was not built in a day.

Lots of AA meetings in BKK and around that area, look it up and go to one, you will meet people there that have been sober for one day to 50 years of continuous sobriety, go to a few different ones and they will tell you what to do and where they go and do not drink, thats what AA is, is a place that people get together and help each other and you will make new friends and a place just like this that you can ask questions and get honest answers, only the people you meet there have a lot more class that some of the pricks on here that will log all the things that they can turn negative and try to use against you for their own betterment and to make themselves seem superior to you like that Prick brain damaged RayFairy and his Ilk, Panda, sTroller, the ones with the lower IQ's..

I consider myself to be tea total. The last beer i had was about 3 months ago and I only tend to have one at a restaurant. One is enough for me.

I think that is why I have maintained my handsome and youthful looks.

Got nothing t do with 22 years old, has to do with what you put in and booze fucks up the nervous system. It is a severe depressant.

The part of the edited quote you used was about people using what you has said about your self for a more or less blackmail/Denigrating use, has nothing to do with the OP which was about not drinking.
You only find such action among lower class people of limited mental capacity, never will you find such going on at AA meetings or with AA members.

Because of diabites I had to quit. Messing up the blood-sugar level. I was never much of a drinker anyway. That was about ten years ago. Never missed it. This month makes three years since I quit smoking too. Sorry, off topic, but I have never felt better since giving up both habits.
