Why do TD Merkins use an Aussie word?

I never really knew what a Pom was until recently. We don't use this word in Canada. I though pom had to do with a pom pom that cheerleaders use.

Isn't the English language itself a simple theft and bastardization of Greek and Latin. Perhaps a reading 'The Stories of English' by David Crystal would give you all an insight.

As for the Welsh, Irish and Scots, as other posters have said I believe they just call us English twats or cvnts!

As this is a predominately Aussie & Brit forum and as I consider myself a cosmopolitan, international traveler, I use the word 'Pom' or 'Pommie' to describe Brits as it's a small word that I'm sure they will understand... Plus, it really pisses off my Brit friends here in the USSA...

In South Africa, we used the name 'Pom' for the Brits.

We also used a few other choice ones going back to the Boer War era when the Brit soldiers raped the Boer women, & their propensity to become sunburned in the hot African sun:

Rooineck = red neck
Soutpiel = salty dick (white member)
