Indeed. My grandfather was nearly beaten to death by anti union thugs hired by the Canadian Pacific Railroad. Why? They the union had the audacity to demand a 6 day work week. The unions did fight and some lost their lives for the things we take for granted today. Most of the rights they fought for are now part of state law.

Given this is the case, are unions a thing of the past and no longer needed to protect worker rights?
The price of freedom is eternal vigilance. Without unions those workers rights we value so much would be gone in a week. That's one of the reasons why big business and right-wing politicians invest so much time and effort into brainwashing people like jettie. It's the happy smiling face of capitalism saying "trust me, I'm your friend". Unfortunately history shows otherwise.
