Thread: Have You Written Your Will?

I'm doing my again. Trying to simplify. Got a probate lawyer and two executors so nobody is really stretched. I'm giving a chunk to my uni department for a scholarship and want to give some to a person/family in need. Also some to my temple in Thailand. Difficult to divvy up the stuff. Auction it off? Any thoughts?

But my funds do have my beneficiaries. Me mum.

I've got a will, but it's nearly 10 years old and could use an update.

Don't have a will as very little to leave to anybody.

The Mrs is the beneficiary of a life insurance policy that would be worth a pretty penny. Not that she's even aware of it's existance, don't want her getting ideas!

I have a will. It's easy and quick. Everyone should make one.

Who ever is thinking of doing a will, will you need my perm. address or you can have it put in my bank acct in the states or if sold off then just have the cash deposited.
As for mine, I don't need one cause I ain't gonna die.

My assets do have a beneficiary, if I die, but it's not a will.

Probably legally the same or similar, though.

I wouldn't worry about it sweety, I tried to give you one awhile ago and says I got to go fuck with some other folks first.

If I get a good job in the US as promised, I'll put the old mate in the will.

Yep, and the follow-up wasn't bad, either.

NR, if you don't make a will (in Canada, anyway), your spouse or parents take over the estate. And if you want to give certain things to folks, often they don't know or won't give it out. It's quite a cumbersome task to get rid of everything, and people, especially family, can get really nasty after the sadness has gone. For example, my Aunt (RIP) burned all of my Gram's diaries after she died. Fek! Decades of her life gone. Then others swoop in and just take sh*t.

I got a lot of it sorted last night and have designated certain items to friends. Most of the antiques and carpets will be auctioned off for a college fund I set up. Most of my insurance goes to my Thai god daughter for her uni education (she wants to be a vet). All of my beloved celadon pottery goes to my best bud. My books go to another life-long pal -- he once chastised me for ripping illustrations of Enoch Arden and The Lady of Shalott out of my Gran's Tennyson's Poems book (c 1911 -- her inscribed date so she was about 12 at the time). Some of the other classics are The Rubaiyat (1912) and Dr Syntax: In Search of Consolation (1936). She gave me tons of books -- not a bad little library for a stupid American, eh?

My Bear will carry some of my ashes back to Thailand. So, Qs for you folks: How much for a temple ceremony and how much for a chedi? Some of my friends' ashes are in chedis at my temple.

i update mine every couple of years, i don,t want my scumbag brother sniffin around what he might contest so i got a real smart arse mate who knows my situation as my executor

no, the way i understand it is; if he does contest ,it is only through hardship,the example being if i left all my estate to charity and zip to my girls they could contest then,but the arseole is so far down my list he,s not even on it,i left my bikes to me mates so he would,nt get a look in, let alone me properties
