    The Prisoner Is Dead

So the Prisoner ( Patrick McGoohan) has died aged 81 , most famous for the Prisoner series that ran in 1967/8 on TV, it became a cult way around the World, The final episode "Fallout" caused such confusion ,debate and annoyance that McGoohan had tp lie low for months, It was to me typical Surreal late 60s , even the Avengers was similar at the time,
Still even though I did not understand most of it it was still entertaining!!!

A wonderful actor with a huge list of performances to his credit but I will always remember him for his role in Jamaica Inn

He wasn't a prisoner in the traditional sense i.e. behind bars. He was kept in a village and was unable to leave, a little akin to George Orwell's 1984. All the villagers were assigned numbers and referred to as their number as opposed to names.

I remember watching it when I was a kid, my dad loved it, cult classic.

    Cult classic.

Personally I never liked the series, maybe I was too young at the time.."I am not a number" He was a good actor though, and sad to see he has gone!
Does anyone remember a series around the same time on ITV called "Spiders Web"? Friday nights if I remember, around 9pm?

'Twas indeed Portmeirion, Wales. The set and everything is still there I believe and receives a lot of cult visitors. They created the village just for the show.

Series was way ahead of it's time... I used to enjoy it when I was a kid, even if I didn't understand all the nuance... The Prisoner & The Avengers... Ohh that Ema Peel...

Emma Peel, I'm sure she was in a recent film playing a nun in China, and given her probable age, she looked OK.

What I mean is , Patrick would likely still fancy her, if he was still around

Yeah as a 'kid' I understood it's meaning. The thought of being trapped in a system when all one wants is to live a free life without the constraints of politics,
Bureaucracy, police state and to live ones own life.

I think it's because my dad was a pot smoker though.

Now now, before the KKK mob and right wingers pop in here for a little tirade, I have had the benefit of living my own life and I am half half. Meaning, I work in a capitalist world, I make money for a multinational organization. Although in my spare time I enjoy the freedoms of my hedonistic lifestyle.

Which French man said 'Life is but a contradiction'.

Greens for those who know his name!
