I had dinner with HE Aphisit Vejjajiva last night

...........along with a few hundred other people.

I attended his speech to the FCCT. Food was excellent I must say and the beer and wine hit the spot.

Interesting speech and Q&A session with the world's media. Several questions on the lese majeste issue, one of which after several already received a nicely timed put down.

Jonathan Head of the BBC's face came up on screen from the audience at one point when he was discussing that several charges against individuals will soon be dropped. Aphisit laughed and said of course he wasn't referring to anyone in particular.

He also made some fair points with regards to the legitimacy of his government.

He is far more likeable that some of the surly individuals I've see up there before, as he always has been when addressing the world media. The first potential real statesman for some time (apart from Samak...5555) in these parts. He was asked about his musical tastes which ranged from Metallica to the Arctic Monkeys.

ps....some of the journos are real cocks

Wish I could have been there, I would have been interested to hear him talk about his Governments policies.

How did he say he's going to reinvigorate the economy? Did he mention anything about ridding Thailand of corruption?

Sounds like an interesting night Bobcock.

P.S. Which of the journo's were pricks and why?

Have to be wondering if the Thai mainstream press covers any of the many prominate Thais that address the FCCT...?? Certainly the Q&A would be slightly different then your run-of-the-mill Thai press conference or speaking engagements of this sort. By the way Bobcock, does one have to be a member to attend such occassions? If so...what are the membership/dues cost?

I was going to go to that, but decided against it in the end. It's nice to see Thailand has an 'English' PM, which is more than England has.

Do not have to be a member.

Membership is 2000 enrollment and 4700 per year. 6700 for a couple.

Which journos were cocks, I don't know their names, I'm not a journo groupie.

There was one from the Christian Science News who got a short sharp answer and the last question from a man with a greying mullet who's question was crap and then grabbed Abhisit when he came off stage to waffle on further. Later back in the FCCT itself he wandered round like a pretentious twat with his nose in the air.

as for reinvigorating the ecomony, he addressed the plans as outlined by k. Korn's plans that were outlined on the front page of yesterdays BKK Post. He didn't go into detail about corruption, talked more about the Rule of Law and how he expects the police to behave.

    Reuters Staff eh?

    Wonder who that is?

His sub editor (title) who was up from Singapore during the airport occupation is a mate of mine.

Indeed they are Nawty, they are not meant to be pieces of art, in fact the only reason I had my camera with me was because I collected it from Canon after a sensor cleaning.

How did your photography course go?

    HE Abashit?

Almost hilarious after being defeated twice in a row and having to resort to a royal posting to assume the job.

At least he's moving up in the world (beyond England).

God willing, the position is more likely to be a 'Grand Mufti' or 'Chief Imam' in the near future.

Then you'll be begging for the Scottish Presbyterian back.

Mark should have made a quick sidestep, put him in a headlock and given him a good old Newcastle kiss.

I'd never beg for a Labour PM - rather have a mad mullah in charge.
