It was someone taking a dive out of the Rajah hotel. (He'd probably just arrived and seen what a crap hole he was staying in.)

I'm all for a bit of sleeze (now and again), but this place was horrible -cockroaches everywhere, a carpet you stuck to and an overwhelming patina of dirt everywhere....eeesh.
