    Trust the Pilot

There are times that you have no choice but to place complete trust in your pilot...the last one is really incredible.

Tioman Island, off the coast of Malaysia

    Wake Island, Pacific Ocean

    Macao Intl Airport

    Kuujjuaraapik, Quebec

A rock, off the coast of Greenwood (Canadian Military Labrador Helicopter)

Outstanding job by a great young pilot from Pennsylvania !

Can't add anything else to this...the picture is worth 10,000 words!

If you don't think USAF helicopter pilots earn their pay, take a close look at this picture.

This photo of a hello rescue mission was taken by a soldier in Afghanistan.

The pilot is a PA National Guard guy who flies EMS choppers in civilian life.

How many people on the planet do you reckon could set the ass end of a chopper down on the roof of a shack, on a steep mountain cliff with unpredictable turbulence, and hold it steady while soldiers load wounded men in the rear?

Next, how many people on the planet do you reckon have the guts to even try it!

I've landed at Tioman and Macau (incidentally, thats the taxiway not the runway in Macau). Tioman is a fun landing.

Nice work with that Chinook, although I assume it wasn't a windy day. Their two rotors give them more stability than the average heli.

I was just going to say that the Macau International pic looked like a suicide run.

St Martin in the Caribbean is fun too. They have a bar at the end of the runway and people get blown all over the place as they gun it on the brakes for the takeoff.

US Air Force doesn't fly Chinooks. The PA National Guard pilot was probably Army. Nice pics.

On a windy day I'd rather try my hand by boat.

For sure I'll never experience landing on Antarctica's Wilkins runway.

Plenty that are in the game.

Here are a couple of stories from my day....

A friend in NZ back in the glory deer catching days....was in a highland hotel having a drink. His hughes 500 parked in the carpark as they usually do. He got into an arguement with the owner and stormed out late in the evening, several drinks under his belt.

He started his machine and took off, hovered it over the chimney and blew all the smoke back into the hotel, smoked the place out. Smoke seen exiting from every space available.

Another guy landed for a piss on the top of a rocky column, like the one in your pic only 50 times smaller, room for his heli and him to get out and pee over the edge. Normally in heli mustering machines we have an extra long avionics cord to our helmets, so we do not have to disconnect from the machine while exiting to refuel.

He exited, still connected, started to piss and his heli started to change cog because of his exit, it tumbled over the edge with him still connected to it....scrambling to unhook his helmet and throw it over....pissing on his boots.

I once landed on top of a caravan.....amongst other silly things.
I like poisoning my neighbours dogs till they die cos I'm a cnut
