I made that workbench as well by the way. I won't post some of my other creations as some people get inferiority complexes.

I suppose you could always get nun chuck skills instead if you wanted to get a girlfriend

bloody hell Nick, I am much more impressed by your clothes dryer. Can you circulate hot water through it?

The thing is CMN, you have to do it to be able to do it

make mistakes and learn from them. The next time will be a bit better

some things are easier than others, some things need more knowledge than others, but they can all be learnt and done competently, no magic
    I have reported your post

    i can't.

i am reminded of when i first went to live abroad and landed in istanbul.
the stuff there must have been 700 years old or more, no idea, but remember thinking...they knew a thing or 2 about concrete.

my pond is leaking, very slowly but a bit quicker than could be explained by sun absorbtion, 2 fish have died and it's the only thing i ever tried to build and it took me months.

this thread is crap, but building people do a good job i suppose.

if you weren't dead, you'd have something nice to look back on.
CMN - I am not preaching, but like almost everything I have done here, it needs to be done at least twice...it is fucking heartbreaking and annoying but you can get there eventually...I am on my third bunch of tossers with some of the things involved in building my house..

Just stand back and don't get overwhelmed, look at it as a step by step kind of thing. We always seem to try and look for the final answer, as if we can get there kind of by a shortcut...look at the problem in stages, concrete, bad workmanship...bit by bit!
My missis got a couple of assholes to build a small house on some land near her mothers place, the said assholes built a 2 storey home with supports 6M apart, the home would naturally collapse, it could not support itself.

Said assholes were fired, a new asshole was employed who immediately said that the place was not safe and needed tearing down.

With a bit of thought, planning etc, some extra supports could have been put in place and the abortion salvaged, however, as usual, they did not listen to the Farang, and 150K was pissed into the wind...there is a solution to most things.

So the pond leaks...can you waterproof it, can you take out the water and dry it out and have another go..fuck...don't give up, you could drain it dry it, skim it with a layer of waterproof cement, not too much effort...Fuck, I'll even give you a hand for free...well..maybe some free beer of an evening.

You didn't think you could paint either. You want to build something. Google is your friend. All sorts of "How To" sites out there. Start with something simple. Great satisfaction out of building something yourself even if it isn't perfect.
