I used to like the fries and egg mcmuffins. Big macs were ok lunch to cure a hangover. But never found a good McD's in Thailand. And they do vary between franchises there. Took my pal's little boy to one every few weeks for whatever the kiddie meals are -- he mostly wanted the toy. The burger went to the dogs. I also took my dogs to McD's. They stayed in the car and I'd go in and order three cheeseburgers -- no other crap, just the meat, cheese and buns. There was always other crap on them. The coffee isn't so bad, compared to the instant stuff. At least Burger King serves real minced beef.

If you are in BKK and want a good breakfast McMuffin, with English muffin, take yourself off to Big Mango Bar, Soi 4, Sukhumvit. They are the business.

believe it or not this is why i don't buy them for my kids, it is a distraction when they should be eating their meal..especially being a new toy it's all they want to do....it always amazes me that parents don't see this..your excused Jet...

Kids are probably better off drinking only a glass of water than eating a McMeal, it always amazes me that parents don't see this.

as life goes, everything in moderation, as stated i don't believe twice a year or thereabouts is excessive, but still i'd like to see a link that supports your claim about the nutritional value of mcd's versus a glass of water..

I never made such a claim, I said 'Kids are probably better off drinking only a glass of water than eating a McMeal'. No where did I state anything about nutrional value.

What do you think is better for a child - Cheese burger, fries and a Coke or a large glass of water?

McDonalds is shite everywhere, Ive never had a "good' McDonalds in terms of either food or service, getting a combination of both is nigh on impossible.

I went to a McDonalds in Canada and they give bigger portions but it just means a bigger portion of food thats shite in the first place. McMuffins are the best thing on the menu and theyre pretty poor.
    McDonalds can fukk off.

to each his own, it's amazing how a company this large got so big in the first place with so many advocates against it, they must just be shoving their food down peoples throats and making you pay for it at the same time..gimmick of the century that is...

I do find it ironic how you keep "eating" it everywhere yet you hate it so much? they sure hooked you didn't they?

^ it's precisely the fact that they are so big that turns people against them.

The apologists and America bashers who love to attack McDonalds cannot stand when it is pointed out to them that it was a Thai that brought McDonalds to Thailand and they are now extremely popular amongst Thai people.
It's a Thai company that uses the McDonalds brand name and business model. McDonalds branches are everywhere in Thailand, and they even have a home delivery service, which goes to prove just how popular they are, possibly moreso than in the West, certainly moreso than Western Europe in particular.

Personally I don't mind McDonalds once in a while, and it isn't bad for you, provided, as with mostly everything, it is consumed in moderation.

Okay, what do you think is 'better' for your children - A large glass of mineral water or a cheesburger, fries and coke from Mcdonalds?

Think you're both missing the point. Idealism & raising children don't always mix. I'm with Jettie - the occasional Happy Meal with toy (which is guaranteed to break ten minutes after purchase) will not do any harm. Veggie juice or water may be less nutritionally harmful, but try convincing a kid they're desirable.

As opposed to noodles or other processed foods here, full of msg? Or nam daeng or nam kyaew? Or all those fried ka-nom? Or the candies that are so sugary they make your teeth hurt? How about the good-for-you soya milk loaded with sugar?

Have you ever been to a school here at hometime, Noodles? Seen all the stalls lined up selling every imaginable form of sugar, fat & chemicals? Thai junkfood is no better than Western. Kids are constantly tempted to eat crap. Personally, I'll take my chances with the occasional Mickey D's for littl'un (maybe one a month or less). At least I know there's protein & carbs in there somewhere.
