You can party on, exercise or whatever else takes your fancy but it should be done with tomorrow in mind.

Excesses of anything (good or bad) and the body pays the price the following day.

Problem with me, it is taking at least a week now for me to recover and after one of my binges!

A good bit of exercise does wonders for your sleeping patern. I reakon that my beer gut is tryig to make a come back and last night I was inspired by another member to do something about it.

So good on ya scamp I'm going to give it a crack too!

Oh by the way, I'm running the 10km section in the Bangkok Marathon if anyone fancies joining. I talked about runing the full 42km jobby but a few of the guys that want to join are a bit to old for that so we oppted for the 10km.

If anyone is interested please pm me. It's a great goal to have for your training sessions aswell. The runs on Nov 23rd. Linky STANDARD CHARTERED BANGKOK MARATHON 2008

^ Bladdy h*ll. We'd lose half the members here if they did the marathon. Funerals are expensive, too.

    Brit,
After finding out at the 'other place' that you personally wear an "I love the king" bracelet, my opinion of your opinions has definitely taken a bit of a dive.

    Oh.....forgot to mention. It's a pink one.

I'm training for a mini triathlon up here in December.

500 metre swim, 20 km bike ride and a 5 km run to finish.

think it might be beyond me at the moment.

Well done CMn and good luck.

I'm now on the wrong side of 50 and think the old body could not stand the strain. The doctor said I have a broken bone in my left ankle and I don't want to have the operation just now. Running would be a major problem for me.

Got a lot of respect for those that want to get out and give it a go and in this heat!

Running is really bad for you. It messes up your joints and jars the spine.
Man was not designed to run, he's a walking machine. Walking and swimming is the best exercise.

I gave up running when I left school. I notice some old timers like to run. But I guess they do it for a purpose. Something to do with outrunning the long arm of the law.
Nowadays I just beat the treadmill for an hour a day. Works wonders too. Gave up smoking which is good for sleeping. And cut down drastically on the booze was fantastic for erections. Now it stands to attention smacking against my belly button.

Marathons aren't good for you, either.
Don't forget, the very first runner of the Marathon, collapsed and died........

One of the best way to lose wait around your midriff is to clench your stomach muscles. Just tighten you muscles and you are actually toning them and also helps to burn off some fat around that particular area. Hold the muscles tight for about 20 seconds at a time and do it about 10 times a day.

This can be done when you are actually sitting at your computer, is not physically stressful on the body and works your cardiovascular system as well.

Another thing I do is to hold my breath for as long as I can. Do it once and feel your heart beating and as a muscle it is getting a good work out. I am told it is also good for your lungs as well. If you can do at least a minute your lungs and heart are functioning fairly well and I always try to do 2 minutes at least once a day.

A few tips that I have been told helps your fitness levels. Certainly seems to work for me.

Two exercises I do that seem to work for me and ones I can do sitting in front of my computer>

    1. Just clench your stomach muscles for about 20 seconds, at least 10 times a day. Tones up the tummy muscles and helps to burn of the fat around your midriff. Gets the old heart working as well.

    2. At least once a day I hold my breath and for as long as I can physically stand. Works the heart and also helps your lungs. Been told that if you can hold your breath for at least 1 minute your heart and lung function is fairly normal. I try for 2 minutes and also pratice underwater swimming when I have the time.

Certainly seems to work for me as I don't do any physical exercise and I am only about 5 kgs over my perfect weight (80 kgs).

    Your wrong travel mate!

I eat the worst things imaginable including meat pies, I have just finished 2 cakes my wife baked, a lot of bread and rice and when I drink alcohol I drink a lot (start with beer and finish on whiskey and coke).

Not very healthy I know but these simple and easy to do exercises really do work.
