No always as simple as what you suggest sunshine jojo, doing things legally here in LOS is fraught with problems and danger, suppose you are like many on this thread never made any mistakes and offer useless advice and hackneyed phrases

Trespass is a bugger of a law in Thailand.
Everything comes down to intention. And that is hard to prove in court. You did the sensible thing at a price!
I would have fought it if I thought she had the money, but if she hadn't.......!!!!!!!!

I honestly can't make any sense out of that post. But since I was mentioned in it, I'll respond:

I made plenty mistakes in Thailand (and elsewhere), look at some of my first posts on this forum if you don't believe me. I responded to your topic, Walter, to let you know that just because a Thai police officer says your breaking some law or another don't automatically assume that you are guilty. The bitch threatened you with the only flimsy weapon she could get hold of and you cowed to it. You know that now, so if it ever occurs again you will act differently. Knocking on someone's door is not trespassing if you have no criminal intent.

And, if it gives you any kind of comfort, I lost more than $6000 in a typical farang fashion in my first year there. I learned from that experience as I expect you have learned something from yours.

OK Mr Smith, I will explain, I was informed that trespass no matter what the intent without permission is an offence! read reply on page two from another respondent! Fold too quickley? maybe, but given the advice from my attourney 50/50 result, plus the fact that she had no tangible assets to seize, plus the cost of taking it to court I resent your comment thats its people like me who cause Farangs to get conned, However being a Scorpio nothing is forgotten or forgiven! I have no regrets as to what I have "initiated" and will continue to do so until my retribution is realised!!

to me, this tresspass law thing is very interesting!

does the law hold up in isaan, where the thais walk into my house uninvited, and unashamedly start rummaging through my cupboards, or allow their kids to poke holes in my furniture?
does it mean i can sue the prick who grazes his 'kkin cattle in my garden as soon as i turn my back?
what about the creeps who come around at night, with a noose on a bamboo pole, hunting tookeh lizards under the eaves of my roof?
and those pricks who walk onto my property and start harvesting my fruit, uninvited, can i legally beat them with a stick, as i have often threatened to do?
i would be only too pleased if a thai would have enough respect for my property and my person, to actually knock on the door, or ask if he may enter my property, never mind laying a charge of tresspass!
my neighbour got real pissed off when i knocked off his "prize fighting chicken", after it tresspassed in my newly planted veggie patch.
so far i have not resorted to laying charges against any of the ape-like creatures who treat my property as if it belonged to them, but if there is a law which allows it, and if i can sue them for a few baht, i recon i could easily retire on the proceeds, given the frequency with which it happens!

Don,t be silly TSICAR! this is Thailand, seriously though you need photographic /video evidence and a witness/es, and more realistically some very good legal advice, then you will piss everyone off and you will have a very strong attack of suicide!! but if you are quick you can do a collective Sue Grabbit and Run to the lot of them! then retire!

I also live in the same village as Tsicar and I cannot understand the problem. No one where we live give a shit as to trespass, or Thai, laws come to that. It's village law that matters and to walk onto someone elses property is an accepted thing. They even come into your house uninvited and start talking to you as if you know them. All that Tsicar says is genuine. The place is a bollocks.
Even with Video evidence the local Keysone Cops would just laugh at you. This is real Thailand

True Ivor ,it,s the same in Lamphun (in the sticks area) the village people are very friendly to one another, get stuck in when help is required, walk in and help themselves if you are cooking something good! they don,t steal though or rummage, totally differant to Chiang Mai!

sorry ivor, but i was just reminded of your experience when your mother-in-law ignored the bell ,the lock on the gate in the 6 foot wall, plus the closed front door and walked in on you sitting on the crapper with the door open so you could watch the telly at the same time!

I came out of the shower once and walked out of the bedroom naked only to confront the mother in law watching the TV. I've never seen a Thai move so fast other than when there's free booze on the go.

She could have had a stroke, or maybe she couldn't reach?

Why don't you just take to her herbs with some weed killer? You just need to walk down there at night with a lamp on your head and pretend to look for frogs.

Of course, if she had treated an influential Thai this way, the outcome would have been quite different. In fact, if the Thai were NOT influential, she might have been found in an alleyway bleeding from every orifice, if alive at all. Bottom line: farangs are fair game. I try to keep this in mind at all times.

My thoughts: You haven't learned the lesson of living in Thailand until you have been reamed a few times by the locals...just enough for your ass to start puckering and chill bumps start to form, when a local starts talking about business with you. That is a fine way to learn to be careful with your money.

I have "talked" to Wandering walter by PM .

I think you guys have taken him up wrong"""""""""

He believes in Magic , I dont, I beleive in Magpies!!!!!!!!!!

He said he will not post again. I hope he does. He took your replies personally, thats what the flaming was about. He has believes , dont we all? From my communication with him give him a break, both sides took it all to serious.
