    People who LIE

I'm getting pretty fed up with this in terms of family. Sure, I've opted to say nothing rather than spill the beans (why should I?) but feking liars really get my goat. I usually quit talking to these fuks or tell them off. Crikes, my sis is dying and she still lies everyday. Why bother?

Morale? Nah. She lied her way thru life. I was stupid enough to keep loving her in spite of it all. She'll have a plum load of baggage going across the river tho. Probably sink half way.

Lying is a part of human nature and I suppose we have all done it at various times and because of different reasons and circumstances.
My sister is a drug addict and in a round about way she is killing herself. My father is in denial (lying to himself) and his refusal to accept the truth is only making matters worse.
Have three small children to whom I am trying to teach the virtue of telling the truth.
Not an easy job in this day and age.

I find it very difficult having to run a BS filter with certain people all the time. Makes it very tiring.

I find it difficult to lie myself, and anyone who lies so much I have to run the BS meter on, I just assume they're lying every time. Those people don't stay in my life very long except my mum who unfortunately is a bit hard to brush off (because she's mum) but I take EVERYTHING she says with a grain of salt. I also don't tell her anything I wouldn't broadcast on the radio because telling her is, for all intents and purposes, broadcasting it on the radio. It's a pity.
I HATE it when she say's 'I shouldn't tell you this, but....' and proceeds to tell me something someone has told her in confidence.
I hate liars and people who betray confidences.

We run a thin line about not telling the truth.

A few weeks ago, my wife had bought a new top. She asked me about it and I said it looked nice.

An hour or so later, the daughter asked me why did I say that. My reply was to say I didn't want to hurt your mom's feelings.

The 9-year old daughter then asked. "Well, isn't that lying"?

What a wicked web we weave, when first we practice to deceive.

I'm with forreachingme. If you're going to lie, you better remember.

Liars have to have good memories and seeing as i have a shit memory due to years of large alcohol consumption i don't bother, can't see the point, while i may have many faults bullshitting ain't one of them.

^^^ Hillbilly, that's not lying. You are giving your revised opinion to make someone feel good. OK by me. People who lie about even little things to make themselves look good are the ones who PO me.

I think the problem with lies (and I don't mean harmless ones to boost confidence, as HB mentions) is that the liar insults the intelligence & importance of those he is lying to. It's almost like saying 'I don't care enough about you to be honest with you & I think you're too stupid to even realise I'm not telling you the truth'. I've had relationships with guys where the old saying 'you know they're lying, cos their lips are moving' was pretty much a truism. They were always transparent as hell in their lies, but it never stopped them lying.

I'm not sure if it's actually a compulsion with some people, but I swear some of them actually believed their own lies more than the truth of what had occurred.

Sorry to hear you're having this trouble with Sis, Jettie. Sounds like she's not going to change, now. Maybe it's better to accept she's just going to keep on the way she is.

Have I lied before? Yes I have. Afterwards I spent so long beating myself up about at, I made a conscious decision to always tell the truth, even if people didnt like what I had to say. It took me a long time to realise, that folk might not like hearing the truth, but if they have anything about them, they`ll respect you for it. Those that dont, aren't worth bothering with.
I aint superstitious, but I know when somethings wrong

99% of the time I'm too honest for my own good, the other 1% of the time I'm dishonest for my own good.

Peterpan, Rigger and I all knew a guy based here in Thailand who told the most bullshit I have ever heard come out of anyones mouth in my life. The above statement is a gem, its exactly how I would sum up his attitude to everybody he conversed with. I'm considering starting telling more lies to Thai's though, given the amount of lies it seems I have been recieving, I might just start giving a few back.

I think you have nailed it Rain, I have a friend who spouts so much rubbish it can be embarrassing to listen to and I firmly believe that he doesn't realize that everybody sees through the veil of deceit, which makes it even more embarrassing for the family.

I cannot grasp why he does it, except to try and build up some kind of mantle for himself, but it is a self defeating theory, but if you are blind, then it is difficult to see, I guess.

I rarely hesitate to respond to such tall tales with:

    "I don't believe you."

Challenge them once and they usually don't try again.

There are in my opinion 2 kind of liars ,those who only lie for personal gain ,those who go over dead bodies to get what they want just for their own needs ( they are the worst ) . And the ones who have a problem with self esteem ,
who seem to lie to themselves to have some respect from others , those
actually most of the time have some issues somewhere during lifetime , especially
childhood . In my opinion they scream for attention , which they not want when given an opportunity and instead keen on giving lies , mostly to themselves ,
they are weaklings who only look for the easiest way .
But in reality they all make fools of themselves , the best way is to ignore them .

Never trust a man who lies...a liar is nothing more than a thief with words rather than deeds.
