Thread: Beware One And All!

Two house burglaries in the last week.

1. First break-in in Pattaya.
Have a house in Soi Chaiyapuk in Jomtien and when I opened the house (and to show it to a potential tenant) last week found that the Plasma TV was missing including the DVD player and of all things the UBC box. Everything else undisturbed including the microwave and rather expensive music system.
The TV was found leaning up against the back door and a rear window had been broken. Obviously a one person job and the TV is quite heavy.
Missus had forgotten to turn on the alarm system but in the end it was a relatively inexpensive mistake.

2. Second break-in in Bangkok.
Have a house behind Seacon Square just off Srinakarin Road in South east Bangkok.
Someone has shown an interest in buying the house and I thought I had better go and check it out before showing it.
Opened the front door yesterday and found the airconditioner had been ripped off the wall. After further inspection I found all AC units had been stolen including the bathroom taps and my bum washes.
Not a great problem as the air cons were definately dated (10 years old) and I had intended to replace them.
Have an alarm system on all doors and windows but these cnuts come through the roof. Have some water damage in one upstair bedroom and have to replace the damaged ceiling in that room.

Both burgalaries, not even worth claiming insurance but the inconvenience and long term safety concern is the issue.

Suspects: Drug addicts after a few baht so as they can get their next high.

Police support: Nil.

All beware the problem of crime in this country is growing at an alarming rate.

Get protected and as best that you can.

That is certainly bad news. I only purchase properties in gated communitees. An advice given by a good Thai friend.
Stand alone properties are getting harder and harder to keep the troubled souls out. For those that leave houses unattended for long durations should have lights fitted to timers and ask good neighbours to park their other car in your driveway.

Yes both houses were unattended for some time. Both are in gated communities and the guard services provided are shite.
Tex love to see any of these cnuts get by the security at my main properties in Pattaya. Deserve what they can get if they are successful.

Should inform the security company. and should make regular complaints. At my properties changing of the guards happens regularly. 6 years now and never broken into. touch wood.

Norton sad but true.

On some estates where I have other houses I insist that the guards are rotated every few months and to overcome the familiarity factor.

Regarding the break-in in Jomtien reported the incident to the guard on post immediately. Ekmongkul by the way are the estate managers

Once I finally found the guard, (and a woman older than my mum) all she could do was smile at me. No words of advice, just a smile and from underneath a guard uniform that was 10 sizes too big for her.

Then went to the mangers office and the young lady in there had absolutely nothing to say either.

I just won't pay the next yearly guard service fee and until these Ekmonkul idiots can get their act together.

If they have a committee should try to get on board and thus have some muscle in changing the guards.

The other trick I have seen. Is that they make it very public knowledge, homes have been broken into. On one rare occasion I was actually there I received a knock on the door and there was this pissed off Thai couple going around saying thay have been robbed and everyone should band together to make life far more difficult for the thieves.

^ Been there done that mate. You could get everyone together with placards and chanting anti develper slogans and to no avail.

At the end of the day get yourself and you property properly protected and that is against the common drug addict thieves that have obvioulsy robbed my properties.

Against professionals nobody really has a chance as they will get in and get out with their booty and before the guards have a chance to wipe the sleep from their eyes.

I can also steadfastly announce that the Ekmongkul Group, who build houses in the Chonburi area really don't give a flying fcuk about after sales service. The absolute worst company I have ever had to deal with in Thailand.

Anyone who is considering buying a property from these cretins should think twice.
