Lightbulb Eat right, exercise daily, live clean, die anyway??? - What a cop out!

I was on the Leo again last night for the first time in twelve days, I got through a few cigarettes too. This morning I feel okay, but I didn't sleep as well as recently and for most of the day I will feel as I have done for most of my adult life which is okay, but compared to how I have been feeling the past twelve days - it's pretty shit, I just notice now how crap feeling 'normal' actually was.

My previous experiences in signing up at a gym in 1998 and 2005 were both failures. 1998 was a non starter and 2005 was very short lived, but this time I realized that I was starting to look like a balding, beer bellied ginger bastard and even getting piles on my face from drinking too much so I went to my local gym which is very nice and new, and got on the treadmill.

It was whilst on the treadmill that one of the staff, oddly enough a Frenchman, introduced himself and pointed out that I would be better off with a 2.5 incline at a speed of 8 kmh for 10 minutes, and since that day he has been my personal trainer six days a week.

After each session at the gym, I repair to the olympic sized pool where I swim around and stuff followed by a sunbathe. I eat sensibly and with regularity - lots of protien and less carbs, and none of that weight gain powder, I don't want to look like a bodybuilder, just lose the beer belly and tone up and look a bit more athletic.

    So far?

There is a significant difference already, the beer belly hasn't gone but it is going and is more solid. I have noticed muscles I never knew I had and when I put my hand on my shoulder I can't feel the bone anymore, I also have shape and a chest mildly resembling an action figure.

I am more confident and have started to attract girls again and have also found that I can last longer in bed, much longer - though it still takes me a while to get an erection when I'm nervous and I did sprain my hamstring during an all night romp in a hotel on saturday night with a cute little fox who's off to Japan on business tonight. I can also sleep like a baby now without needing Xanax.

So, my message to Norton and all you other people out there that say it's better to live fast and die young or drink as much as you want as you could get hit by a bus or sucked inside out by a particle accellerator in Europe are just being lazy and it's a cop out really, just a lazy excuse to get old quickly.

I get a better high from this new lifestyle than I do from drinking a shitload of Leo, smoking until my brain dries up and feeling crap the next day.

You don't have to quit beer, or even smoking if you can't - (which I can't but I have cut down considerably) - but everything in life should be in moderation, be it beer, chocolate, the internet or even excercise itself.

You may not all agree with me, but I am feeling better than I ever have done before so who's the cnut?

My advice: Just keep movin' straight ahead. Every now and then you find yourself in a different place."

You're right. I'm going to quit my job and start my new lifestyle straight away!

Can anyone pay my rent for me please? Oh, and some food would be nice, but I don't need much...

Are you going to be a contender for the 'I am so busy rehearsing my witty riposte that I will just skim through the OP and miss relevant details' competition this year? ...Have a read, I mean red.

Yes, correct, everything in moderation. A friend of my brother worked too hard and now he has lots of money but he fires blanks and can't get his wife up the duff.

Try to eat well and keep the vices in a middle range and long term benefits will follow. I take a vitamin every day for 30 years, avoid fast food but do imbibe a bit of spirits still health is good. Life is long, invest in your health and future.

I can't do beer in moderation so I quit altogether and I am very glad I did, more than 3 months ago now.

I don't miss it one iota.

If you are lucky enough to be able to have a few as and when, and I think most people are, then good for you.

I have now lost 8 kilos and have been exercising like buggery every day.

Unfortunately I have woken up this morning with a fukked back.
    Can barely walk.

Moderation, for some behavior, is a mirage.

Fair play to you Noooners, I know what you mean. After a few days off the beer I thought I'd try one, and though I was pleased that I wasn't craving I feared being a social outcast and how my social life would be without it. It tasted different, it was far more enjoyable when I was drinking to much of it but the ocasional one wasn't that much - so I had a few more and it became more enjoyable again... And this morning I feel I wasted the last two days in the gym so I feel worse mentally than I do physically.

As for your back, shit happens when you are working out but it will get beter, just buy some magnesium pills and take it easy for a few days.

I can't green you but I tried, I've sent an sms to Red Dragon, he's going to an internet cafe later on and he's going to give you a green but it's from me just so you know.

The odd part of this whole thread - Scampy just realized that exercise is good for you and it improves your life.

btw, as part of my fitness programme, I started off slowly, bench pressing just 50 kilos.

i am now up to 80 kilos in 5 sets of 8, (added a few kilos a week for 3 months)

think I'm right at my limit though, I only weigh 70 kilos, think that's what happened to my back.

Good luck Scamp...You might want to film the process of metamorphisis from the old pot bellied scampy to the new "improved" scampy, so we can all judge if the exercise and soberness is giving good results. I would expect nothing less then a youtube video...

Funny you should say that Pluto - one thing I regret is taking a photo of myself naked a couple of weeks ago before I started training so that in a couple of months I could post it here on TD next to an 'After' shot so that members can take notes and compare.
