Kudos for the Brits maintaining some cultural independence!

For what it's worth I have you pegged as the 'Skipper'
Maybe Marmite isn't too young but I must be too young! I'm sorry Pooly but I haven't heard of Gilligan's Island

    That's given Ice.

It's good to see some young blood here waiting to take over the reins when us oldies fall off the perch.

Anyway, it were a right crap show, you've not missed anything special.

I don't think we ever had Gillian's Island in the UK not on normal tele anyway - no doubt it's on sattelite somewhere. Nor McGuiver - I could never understand what the references were in the Simpsons. I like some US shows - I watched some episodes of 'Curb your Enthusiasm' the other day and thought that was funny. One of the things I dislike about a lot of US shows is the 'happy' ending where everyone reflects on what they have learnt - I'd prefer it if everyone ended up throwing crockery at each other, like in real life.

    Danbo,

I'm pretty sure MuGuvyer was on Channel 4??? And Gilligans Island (along with like Land of the Giants, Lost in Space, Etc.).

American TV travels better than UK TV (they have problems with our accents) generally.

Land of the Giants! Now you're talking. Robinson Crusoe, Wacky Races......I feel a classic TV thread coming on. As for Aussie TV: I remember Skippy......Gotta love the 'pitch'....'Well mate, it's just like Lassie, but instead of a dog it's a......Kangeroo'.....'Strewth mate, that's brilliant'....

Benny Hill was cool, we got to see tits on tv for the first time. Then they brought over this show about buncha dumb fuckers workin' in a department store. Yeah that had a plot. Really wierd this obession the brits have 'bout wearin' wimmins clothing on the "telly"
Thak god, we had the geniuses that brought us "The Dukes of Hazzard" and the like.
I mean, what would we do with out them Daisy Duke shorts? Women dressed like sluts, that's what we like; not Big, Old Fuckers dressed as our grannies.
(no 'fense danbo, i'm sure you cut a mean figger in that cocktail dress with the plunging back)

I was never a big Benny Hill fan, but I did like it when he slapped the little bald bloke on the head......I still find it hard to resist the temptation. I didn't know he was gay...Benny Hill that is, not the little bald bloke, although he may have been as well - they may have all been at it for all I know.....Morcambe and Wise used to sleep together and no one thought anything of it.....I miss those days.....The Dukes of Hazard was great.....Why were they forever having roadworks on the dirt tracks though - what the bloody hell was there to fix......Chips was good as well.....now talking about gay!
