Gilligan's Island - Which castaway were you?

Classic American TV of the 70's. Gilligan's Island!
Which member's personality most resembles your own?
    And Why?

    Ginger perhaps?
Are you an air head, sex symbol?
Vain to the nth degree yet having a good heart.

    The Professor.
Clever, if not genius. Rarely gets flustered even when your 77th attempt to find a way for you and your fellow castaways to get off the Island is destroyed, once again, by Gilligan!

Of all the characters I've decidied on Mrs. Howell.

Like myself, she's vague, haughty and has unreasonable expectations of those around her while maintaining impeccable standars herself.
Not someone who you would immediately become fond of.
But you ultimately have a positive view of her.
She's well past her best years so she's really just left to being an icon of good taste. But her stoic nature in, not only surviving but doing it with style, is something I see in myslef.

    Time....

Gilligan kicked the bucket a few months ago.

The Professor lives in my hometown.

This is going to be a short lived thread this one.....I thought everyone had watched re-runs of Gilligan's Island.

But Memock, if ever a poster was to be the re-incarnation of a G.I. character you are the perfect Mary-Ann.
Now remember, we're talking personalities here, not gender, so there's no threat in being one of the girls.
Mary-ann was your 'small town, sweet as apple pie, girl next door'.
Always happily spreading cheer and good will with unending energy.
    An all round good egg.
She became a quiet sex symbol of the series, with her pig tails and every so small shorts!!!

A good point Marmite as there's no way you are too young.

But it makes me reflect on how much American culture is rammed down Australian throats to the extent that we feel we are part of a world wide Gilligan's island watching community instead of just a pathetic 51st state.
Kudos for the Brits maintaining some cultural independence!

For what it's worth I have you pegged as the 'Skipper'

Yes, but you'd never had a dessert before I took you to the Huntsman's Pub.

Boy thats quite a change of attitude from the original post Poolie. Why not rant on about getting older. I had to watch a show for a while called Neighbors. I'd take Gilligan anyday.

Well being from the 'good ol' U.S of A' aging one, you're hardly going to notice the cultural annihillation of other countries by Hollywood and corporate America, are you?

    It's a fact.
Not blaming you for it so don't be so sensitive.

And also being American, why wouldn't you take the culturally identifiable product over some different and unfamiliar?

I know nothing about the Brit TV programs nor the Aussie stuff. And yet why do so many people know about American TV? (Well except Memock)

Because the Brits and Aussies are outward looking people, whereas the Merkins are inward looking.

Don't worry - I still got my american crap unfortunately - just not till later. I was just blessed living in the sticks where commercial TV didn't arrive until 1990 or something like that. Hell TV only got here in 1984.

Looking at all the brain dead and obese kids around I wish it was like that again.
News is what someone, somewhere is trying to suppress - everything else is just advertising.
